Lies, Damn Lies, and Jean Schmidt

On November 22, 2005 By

Let’s add insult to injury shall we? Not only did the freshman Congresswoman from Ohio put her foot in her mouth, she also lied in the process! What a goof. The Cincy Enquirer has an article that outlines how Colonel Bubp did indeed call Rep. Schmidt, but did NOT ask her to call Murtha or anyone else a coward:

Danny Bubp, a freshman state representative who is a colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve, told The Enquirer that he never mentioned Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., by name when talking with Schmidt, and he would never call a fellow [...]

Neutralize This!

On November 21, 2005 By

Alot of talk about the “In These Times” piece on Sherrod Brown. GrowOhio is obviously pround of it. Russo calls it a puff piece. Both true from their given perspectives.

A couple of things strike me and rub me the wrong way, really.

First off the allusion that bloggers are “cold sores” that you just can’t stop itching:

Brown, who?s been intimately connected to the progressive grassroots for the entirety of his career, evinces more than a little bafflement at the portion of the new blog constituency that has been lobbing rhetorical hand grenades in his [...]

Mean Jean and John Murtha

On November 21, 2005 By

Catching up from a hectic travel weekend. To save all who read this post the trouble, here is a tip: When they say be there an hour before an international flight, they mean ONE HOUR…not fifty minutes…not fifty five minutes. One freaking hour. Cost me 4 hours of my life that lesson right there…not to mention the rule that says no driving through Montreal at 4pm to the airport.

So, TVs were blaring on Friday in the airports I walked through on my travels home. Most were focused entirely on Mean Jean and her Murtha smear campaign. Most have seen [...]

This is going to make O’reilly’s head explode…not to mention piss off the minutemen (do we still have minutemen?). A company has made sneakers that have several built in features to help Mexicans cross the border. They feature an insole with a border map, a pouch to carry money or other small items, a compass, a mini-flashlight, and Mexican flag colors.

Brinco sneakers (jump in spanish) is an art project really, only 1000 have been made; some sold for prices that would even make Jordan blush; some given away to Mexicans planning to come to the U.S. via a border [...]

OK, want more evidence the whole Husted thing is BS? How about Tiberi being hailed as a hero for helping stop RON and saving GOP seats? Yeah? Yeah.

Roll Call has an article about it. It’s subscription based, so I’ll leave it up to you to subscribe or figure out another way to read the entire article. Here are some snippets:

Tiberi took a leading role behind the scenes in the GOP effort to defeat the measure, acting as the point person and go-between for the Congressional delegation and the state-based opposition effort.

I know [...]

Yeah, but will the kids buy it?

On November 17, 2005 By

(hat tip HFA) This is pretty funny. A group called RightMarch has launched a campaign to get a new cool ass song yo (the kids say “yo” right?) out there to the masses of misled liberal kids. The duo out of Nasvhille, The Right Brothers, sing the tune titled “Bush Was Right”. We’re pretty sure the lyrics were penned by Rove – haven’t we wondered what he’s been doing? – but there has been no verification of this…it has not been thoroughly plunderbunded.

Lyrics, audio sample, video, and commentary after the fold

Poutine et Cheney

On November 16, 2005 By

Update: Breaking News! Bush supports Cheney’s remarks. Duh. Did you guys know war is “serious business”? I was a bit unclear on that, but thankfully George cleared it up for me!

Sitting here in my hotel in Quebec watching CNN and eating poutine. A quick summary of the speech and then back to the good stuff.

Basically the Bush “rewrite history” speech did not work, so they sent Cheney out to try again. They are back to their usual rinse, repeat ad nauseum routine. We stood by while blah blah…but we will not let some in the Senate politicize this [...]

Wolfs Really Were Guarding Hen House

The Washington Post today reported on a memo that shows oil company executives indeed met with Cheney in order to fashion national energy policy. Despite all the denials, some as recent as last week, it appears the tinfoil hat wearing moonbat crowd was right…again.

Sherrod Brown .org Hijack

On November 15, 2005 By

Update: Site is now a GoDaddy parked domain. Plug pulled? Cease and Desist maybe?…looks like it was updated on 11/16/05

(hat tip Buckeye Senate Blog)

OK, how the hell does someone in a campaign let this happen? Is it not someone’s express responsibility to register up any domain remotely close to a candidate’s name? Or possibly even stuff that could be used in bad ways: sherrodbrownsucks.com? Unreal. Registered back in July, sherrodbrown.org is secretly registered via Domains by Proxy. The site, however, appears to be claimed by a Matt Naugle on the home page.

First the [...]

[Cues Bullshit Alarm] Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted wants Dems to have a seat at the table to discuss, among other things, fairer redistricting. Folks, I’m having another one of those “Well Fuck Me” moments. According to the Plain Dealer, Husted is “extending an olive branch” in a rare “gesture of bipartisanship”. Damn near ruined my laptop just then…should had a barf bag handy.

Although Republicans universally opposed the election reform amendments, which were promoted and bankrolled by Democrats, Husted candidly acknowledges that reforms are critically needed nonetheless…Husted intends to solicit their participation in discussions on how [...]
