The Fix: Ohio Senate Seat Moves Up on Friday Line

Cillizza moves Ohio’s Senate seat up to #3 on the most likely to change hands:

3. Ohio — Republican Mike DeWine: The Fix was surprised to hear National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Brian Nick name Ohio as one of his party’s two most vulnerable seats — along with Pennsylvania — at a recent campaign briefing. Republicans benefit somewhat from the Democratic primary between Rep. Sherrod Brown and Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett, which is shaping up to be nasty. Still, the ongoing problems surrounding Gov. Bob Taft (R) could drag DeWine down regardless of who wins the Democratic primary. (Previous ranking: 4)

Plunderchat:

I don’t understand why he thinks the primary is shaping up to be so nasty. According to Brown’s team, Brown is only going to focus on DeWine and act like he is not in a primary against Hackett. According to Hackett, he is going to focus on Ohioans in general on why he should be a senator.

So far the nastiest person in this fight is the outsiders such as David Sirota who talks shit on Hackett. He said it was a sad day for all Democrats since Hackett is going to stay in the race.
