From the monthly archives:

April 2006

Some may be sad, some may be happy, others might give a flip…still others may be cocking their head to the side like the RCA dog – but Plunderbund will be at low or no activity from now until Sunday when I return from Atlanta. I will try to check in but make no promises!

Podcast 3 will also be delayed by one week. I’m sorry to keep all 3 of my fans in wonderous anticipation, but it is what it is! OK, there are about 50 of you!

Back to normal come Monday and look for episode 3 with Yellow Dog Sammy of Ohio2006 as well as Paul Hackett (we hope) and Dr. John C. Green on the power of blogs, and maybe Russell from BSB on the inside scoop.

The new documentary on global warming and Al Gore’s one man campaign to end it comes out May 24th. This is something that we all can do for Earth Day: Go see this movie then commit to doing your part whatever it is. Visit www.climatecrisis.net and see what your impact is and learn how to lessen or eliminate it either through action or supporting offsetting renewable projects. The time is now. It might also be a fun thing to do to get bloggers together for an opening day viewing. Comment if you are interested.

View the trailer:

Note: I heard Al speak on this the other day on the radio and he is on the right track with his “this is not political, but moral”. Precisely right. This is the way to frame it, and like in my Earth Day rant on PB Podcast #2, I welcome any and all to join me in this. Republican, Evangelical Christians, Aliens (legal or illegal), even Garth Brooks fans. I’ll stoop that low.

6/10/09 – My hipcast account lapsed and I’m not able to locate the original audio file. I’ll try to get it back up when I can. It’s gold!

Update: UAW pulls endorsement from Ritter. Support Mike Foley! www.foleyforohio.com

Tim asks folks to call Bill Ritter, a Dem in a primary calling out Stonewall Dems and using Republican gay hate speech to pick up votes.

I took a minute to do just that:

If you want to let Bill know how YOU feel, please do so by calling 216-476-0480. Please tell him Plunderbund sent you.

Strickland Wins NRA Endorsement

Only Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate to Receive NRA Support in May 2 Primary

Columbus, Ohio – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) has endorsed Ohio gubernatorial candidate Congressman Ted Strickland for the May 2 primary election, the Strickland for Governor campaign announced today.

Strickland received an “A” rating from the NRA based on his consistent legislative record in support of Second Amendment rights in Congress and his responses to the 2006 NRA candidate questionnaire.

In an endorsement letter to Strickland, Chris Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF, acknowledged Strickland’s pro-sportsmen voting record as a member of Congress and urged NRA members and supporters to vote in the primary.

“During your tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, you have demonstrated a proven commitment to the defense of our Second Amendment rights,” Cox said. “The NRA-PVF urges all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen to vote for you in Ohio’s Democratic primary for governor on May 2, 2006.”

“I am thankful for this endorsement and the NRA’s acknowledgement of my steady and consistent support for sportsmen and gun owners throughout my time in Congress,” Strickland said.

“I have always believed that law-abiding citizens have a right to the freedoms outlined in the Second Amendment. As governor, I will continue to fight to protect those rights.”

Ted talks about the endorsement

Ted gets the endorsement, Blackwell wears the jacket. LOL. How many right-wing nutjobs will criticize this obvious attempt to pander to the NRA? He looks about as at home in the bomber jacket as I would in a Duke T-shirt. Ted is the real deal, and real Republicans are going to take notice, much like they will in the 12th with Shamansky. I can’t wait to see the end of Republican dominated idiocy, really I can’t!

Clark Donley of WSNY interviewed Bob Shamansky:

He also interviews the other OH12 candidates. Find them all here.

I got a batch of signs for OH12 Congressional candidate Bob Shamansky. They are a clean design, easy to read from a distance and should stand out with the stark white background.

If you need one or know someone who does, just email me their address and I’ll get one or more out (Delaware, OH area only please).

So much so, he’s emailing people with this Dispatch article pasted in.

Ohio deserves a robust debate and substantial examination of the issues in this fall’s campaign for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Mike DeWine. Toward this end, the choices in the May 2 primary election are clear: Republicans should nominate incumbent Sen. Mike De-Wine, and Democrats should choose U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown.

Uh, yeah. Choice got taken away from us remember? Oh, I guess there is der Keiser. LOL.

Mike is loving the positioning of himself as the moderate and Brown as the whacko. Get ready for more of same. Love that principled stand on gay marriage, Mike! Love it!

Sherrod needs to start talking tough and doing so non-stop or he’ll get run completely over. Snap out of the trade coma, mate!

from OpEdNews (hat tip JeanLR in comments at BSB):

The Illinois General Assembly is about to rock the nation. Members of state legislatures are normally not considered as having the ability to decide issues with a massive impact to the nation as a whole. Representative Karen A. Yarbrough of Illinois’ 7th District is about to shatter that perception forever. Representative Yarbrough stumbled on a little known and never utlitized rule of the US House of Representatives, Section 603 of Jefferson’s Manual of the Rules of the United States House of Representatives, which allows federal impeachment proceedings to be initiated by joint resolution of a state legislature.

Which gave birth to Illinois House Joint Resolution 125

As some of you may know, some craziness happened with the shoutbox recently. You can view the BSB posted archive here (some has been deleted since by me). I’m not in to censorship, but since someone threw a hissy fit I figured it the right thing to do to settle her nerves.

The bottom line to the shoutbox is I can no more control what happens there live as I can control what people shout from their windows driving down I-70. I will delete stuff after the fact that might be offensive or if someone asks me to – in the case of “impersonation”. The funny thing is if you saw the chats, it was painfully clear that it was not the people who were named. I’m not sure how you can get that confused. I don’t view it as an attempt to mislead, as was the case with the righty blog that tried to impersonate Jill.

…carry on

This article in the NYT struck me as kinda funny. Both Strickland and Blackwell are hammering on the need for change. Hang on. Reverse that. Yes, that Blackwell. A cog in the corrupt Republican machine that has all but ruined the state of Ohio. And HE wants a chance to change all that.

…uh…NO! You don’t get a chance Ken. You are complicit in both the country and the state going in the wrong direction. You are the one who pulled the most heinous display of voter disenfranchisement in state history. Let’s take a walk down memory lane:

  • Misallocation of voting machines leading to unprecedented long lines, despite the warning that voter turnout would be huge
  • Restriction of provisional ballots disenfranchised more voters
  • Unbelieveably, you rejected voter registrations due to paper weight
  • Your parties decision to engage in pre-election “caging” intimidation techniques further depressed voter turnout
  • Your party engaged in partisan challengers for the express purpose of repressing Democratic voter turnout
  • You disallowed voters requesting an absentee ballot and not receiving them on time from getting a provisional
  • You decided not to investigate a single instance of voter intimidation and misinformation campaigns designed to deliver Ohio to Bush

So no, Ken. You don’t get a chance to “change Ohio”. You couldn’t manage it while you had the chance. You sure as hell don’t deserve a damned promotion!

Yes, the old one was horrendous! The new one is a marked improvement and will hopefully get more people to visit and volunteer. I like the inclusion of what people are blogging about. Very nice touch. Some get it and some don’t. This is getting it.

Not sure what geekfan.com is all about – they should use the chandraforohio URL for volunteer signups also. If you volunteer, the form URL switches to geekfan.com. And they should clean up the untitled documents all over the place. But the look and feel is certainly an improvement:

from OpEdNews:

CINCINNATI – Friday, April 21, 2006, supporters of former US Senate candidate Major Paul Hackett, without fanfare have launched a draft committee and accompanying website to finish the work they started in the State of Ohio. “Paul was a catalyst for organizing in Ohio. The Democratic Party leadership is rolling the dice with Sherrod Brown, taking Independent, Republican, & Democratic Hackett supporters for granted,” said Howard Konicov former Hackett Field Manager. “We have a responsibility to live up to the aspirations that resonated with Paul in Ohio.
