Defending Dann or Attacking Subodh?
I’m not in the habit of deleting comments on Plunderbund unless they are clearly abusive and of no value. I’ve not had to do that much at all and for that I’m grateful. Most people that read disagree in ways that I don’t find troublesome. I also have very few trolls. Some anons, but that is fine as they appear to behave themselves.
Yesterday amid all the Chandra-Dann fun, I got a comment in this thread that was, well let’s just say LONG! It was a bunch of information related to the IALIF incident. You can view the comment here, a pdf file (although I took it out of the comments because this amount of information is disruptive in that format).
The poster had commented previously and held the position that Dann was more electable. Bentley Lenhoff also happens to be the father of Alyssa, Marc’s wife.
Mr. Lenhoff is understandably frustrated with the current climate of rhetoric surrounding the race for the Democratic nomination for AG. We exchanged a few emails and he has indicated that he was not prompted by the Dann campaign to post or defend Marc. I can appreciate that.
I shared with Mr. Lenhoff the fact that the IALIF issue has been thoroughly dealt with in the very public (and very thick) packet of information Subodh’s campaign has shared with all. Thanks to staff at BSB for pointing this out to me. I noted my appreciation with the transparency of sending out such a thing, but had not waded through it at any length.
After doing so, it is clear that any “blot on Subodh’s escutheon” as Mr. Lenhoff puts it simply is not there. If anything the whole affair speaks volumes about Subodh’s character and willingness to do the right thing at the risk of personal discomfort. I read over 40 pages of material last night to come to this conclusion. The PD today does much the same if you read this article. I will, however, share 3 pages that might shed some light on the whole thing. A letter from the DOJ (pdf file) that will give you a flavor for what I found after reading more of it.
So basically, opponents are trying to use this incident with the IALIF PAC as a smear against Subodh when in fact what the entire story indicates is that Subodh did the right thing.
Subodh also sends a letter to BSB responding to the arrogance accusations. In it he says:
I plead guilty to being impatient and wanting change NOW. Why? Because the people of Ohio have gotten a 100% royal screwing from their leadership for over a decade, most especially from their Attorneys’ General. Just as I’ve done throughout my career, I will right these wrongs and work on behalf of all Ohioans for the change that they deserve TODAY! Will I tick some people off in the process? Yes. Ohioans, however, deserve nothing less than a bulldog in their corner for once.
The bulldog has bite, but is a good dog really…

For the record, Subodh sent the email to me. I posted it on BSB since it was related to a thread there.
