EMILY’s List Edorses Mary Jo Kilroy in the 15th
Washington, DC. - EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest grassroots political network and financial resource for women running for elective office, today announced its endorsement of Mary Jo Kilroy in her bid for Ohio’s 15th Congressional District.
“Mary Jo Kilroy is an independent voice for the people of Ohio, who she has served for over 15 years,” said Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY’s List. “As a member of Congress, she will help bring needed change to Washington. EMILY’s List considers this to be one of the most important races we are involved in and our membership will lend all its considerable strength to seeing that Mary Jo Kilroy is victorious.”
Kilroy has spent her life fighting for the working families of this district. She served on the Columbus School Board for eight years. She was then elected to the Franklin County Commission, on which she serves today.
Kilroy is a leader for change who knows that the 15th district needs better representation on the issues that matter to them, such as health care, affordable housing and economic priorities. Kilroy’s candidacy is an opportunity for Democrats to defeat the fourth ranking member of the Republican Congress.
“I am honored to have earned the support of the thousands of individual women and men who are members of EMILY’s List,” said Kilroy. “The people of Ohio deserve a change in leadership and I am the person who will bring about that change.”
With more than 100,000 members, EMILY’s List is the largest political action committee in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY’s List has helped elect 61 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 11 to the U.S . Senate, and eight governors. In only ten election cycles, EMILY’s List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices and other key local offices.
