Listening Vicariously…Yes!

Wow! I just finished listening to the first track off the new Tool album Vicarious. If this is representative, us Tool fans are in for a well-worth-the-wait album! Vicarious is classic Tool, with some new timing changes and a really unique guitar riff. I loved it! But then again, I view Tool shows as somewhat of a religious experience.

I’m OGT, back from ‘92 - the first EP. Got turned on to them back in my band days in Nashville. We played with some guys from Alton, IL (Judge Nothing) who played out in Cali and heard them and said, “Watch for this Tool band”. Two weeks later we heard “Sweat” on a tape compilation given out at a Henry Rollins concert. That would be all she wrote. Can’t wait to pick this one up!

Never got big into Tool. I got to see Rollins a couple times, including one time at Medusa’s in Chicago where I was heavily frisked at the door. That kinda hurt my feelings.

You frisked? NO! Rollins was a trip. Talked to him before the show as he was finishing up meditating in an alley. Great guy…nice even. Wouldn’t know that during a show.
