Thank you!
Dear Friends:
My wife, Meena, and our entire family, join me in thanking you. Thank you if you gave this campaign money to fuel our ability to communicate. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your hard work. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for caring enough about your community, state, and country to fight to make them better.
When we started this campaign, few Ohioans, if any, thought they cared about the attorney general’s office. Nonlawyers thought it was an office about which only lawyers should care, and lawyers thought it was just an office about which only lawyers who profit from it should care. Now, far more people understand that Ohio’s future requires better than what recent officeholders did—failing to protect Ohioans from harm and loss. And any time we are hiring someone to do an important job, we need to look closely at qualifications and background—and raise our expectations from the attorney general: because Ohioans deserve protection from the special interests who have torn our state asunder.
We accomplished one other thing. On election day, 182,000 Ohioans went to the polls and voted for a guy born in Oklahoma named Subodh Chandra, the son of immigrants whose own American sons, at age two, run around at reckless speeds believing blissfully that their lives are filled with endless possibility.
Public service to ensure lives full of endless possibility, for my children and for all children, is in my future. And I would be proud if my sons have the spirit in them, too. Having a megaphone is preferable to using a paper cup, as it often felt, to get your message out. But my supporters know that those within earshot of the paper cup joined this movement for change. And I thank them for it. Next time, we’ll just make sure we’re the ones holding the megaphone.
On election night, I called State Senator Marc Dann, and congratulated him on winning a hard-fought race. I also thanked him, only slightly tongue-in-cheek, for reuniting me with my family. I can fully appreciate the additional sacrifices that he and his family are going to have to make over the next several months. I wish him them well in the challenging mission ahead.
Please join me in supporting the Democratic ticket this fall, restoring Ohio to greatness, and taking our country back.
Best personal regards,
SUBODH CHANDRA
