Thank You Subodh!

Subodh,

Thank you very much. You were an energizing force and inspired like no other statewide candidate did - or could. I first heard you speak at the Delaware County Democrat Dinner and you absolutely stole the show! You outshined them all - Dann, Brown, and Strickland included. You should be proud of how you ran your campaign. You should be proud of the very powerful loyalty your supporters showed. I only regret we could not be more organized and head off the ODP juggernaut…but those days are coming. I’ve got ideas and maybe some day they can turn into actionable items.

I want you to know that what you did and how you did it was truly inspiring and I will remember it for a long, long time. Hopefully the Democrat Party is smart enough to harness your raw energy, passion, and talents in order to bolster the overall party. You are one we can’t let get away, and surely can’t let sink back into just being a lawyer.

So here’s to you, Subodh Chandra. I’ll hoist a pint and sing your praises at the next such opportunity - probably tonight. ;-)

Plunderchat:

I strongly agree with you about Subodh. He was by far the most impressive statewide Democrat this year. The lack of TV commercials to make his name widely known compared to his opponent’s advantage of the slate endorsement hurt. I too pray that Subodh doesn’t give up efforts in state politics. The Dem party - and Ohio - badly need him.

The ODP shot itself in the foot when it decided to make endorsements in the primary. It shot a lot of us in the heart when it refused to look at the extraordinary credentials of Subodh Chandra. Contrary to what they may think the results of the primary show, I think it was prophesy fulfilled by the money and effort they put into the Dann campaign. Unfortunately the ODP is still geared to maintaining the staus quo in Ohio and unwilling to look at new and qualified candidates who could help the party reach a new status in Ohio. Evidence is the lack of interest given to Warren County and Southwest Ohio where little was seen of Dann. Chandra wooed us with his energy and intelligence and credentials. To change the status quo of the Democratic Party in Ohio and in Southwest Ohio we need Chandra and more candidates like him.

Looking forward, Editor, to those ideas and action plans.

[…] Thank You, indeed.   […]

Thanks Leona. I’m Eric, btw, I don’t use a pen name! ;-)

I’ve been checking the Chandra for Ohio site from time to time, to see if there was a message to supporters posted yet. There is one now…

…On election day, 182,000 Ohioans went to the polls and voted for a guy born in Oklahoma named Subodh Chandra, the son of immigrants whose own sons, at age two, run around at reckless speeds blissfully believing that their lives are filled with endless possibility. Having a megaphone is preferable to using a paper cup, as it often felt, to get your message out. But my supporters know that those within earshot of the papercup joined this movement for change. And I thank them for it.

Public service is in my future. Next time, we’ll just make sure we’re holding the megaphone.

On election night, I called State Senator Marc Dann, and congratulated him on winning a hard-fought race. I also thanked him, only slightly tongue-in-cheek, for reuniting me with my family. I can fully appreciate the additional sacrifices that he and his family are going to have to make over the next several months. I wish him them well in the challenging mission ahead.

Please join me in supporting the Democratic ticket this fall, restoring Ohio to greatness, and taking our country back.

I agree with the sentiment expressed in your letter, and hey … thanks for writing it. It made me think that another letter is needed, this one expressing support for the guy who is now our candidate. I published such a letter on my blog here.

That’s a great message from Subodh!

And thanks, Leona, for your post too! I agree wholeheartedly.

Does Dann have any chance of beating Betty? I had been fantasizing about a televised Montgomery - Chandra debate. Wouldn’t that have been a hoot?
