Kilroy turns up the heat on Pryce as it appears she’ll be calling out Deb for violations of her own party’s “Contract with America”. Gotta love it! The reformers with “citizen legislators” on their breath now turned into career politicians themselves. I can’t wait to see the grilling as it should be entertaining!
Term limits. Many of the Republicans elected in 1994 including Deborah Pryce pledged to limit their time in office, most often to six years. But they failed to pass a constitutional amendment to limit congressional terms, and in recent years many Republicans have discarded the notion that the country needs “citizen lawmakers.”
What Deborah Pryce said then:
REP. DEBORAH PRYCE, (R) Ohio:” I remain convinced that limits are not only beneficial; they are essential to making Congress more effective, productive, and accountable. The Congress was meant to be a citizen legislature. The founding fathers and those that followed after them were laymen, not career politicians. And just think of the many benefits that would come from term limits: a regular influx of new ideas, fresh, motivated members, a Congress close to the people and issues facing them out there in the real world, a greater emphasis on merit, rather than seniority, and a better chance to guard against legislative gridlock.”
Time to bust out the old flip flops, wave them in the air, and ask the question: Why are you even running again Ms. Pryce? Who me? Oh, well, hell that’s easy. Because they bought the citizen legislator bullshit. I’m stayin’ put! Bwahahaha!
