Juxtapose: A Definition in Photos (Kilroy vs. Pryce)

by Eric on May 30, 2006 · Comments

Memorial Day Parade. Pryce supporters show up. Kilroy supporters show up. We learn about the word juxtapose.

jux·ta·pose (j?k’st?-p?z’) pronunciation
tr.v., -posed, -pos·ing, -pos·es.

To place side by side, especially for comparison or contrast.

OK, so let’s begin. We have to have a subject A and a subject B in order to juxtapose. Subject A: Pryce supporters in the parade:

Now, subject B: Kilroy supporters in the parade:

OK, one more look just to make sure we get it right:

Now for the juxtapose:

Any questions?

    Great job Eric!

I will be encouraging others who are tired of not being represented to look at these great pictures as we keep up the fight.

She should be embarassed -- and I think your visuals on Pryce and Tiberi's "obedience" were right on target. What good are they doing central Ohioans?

    Schmajo,

Dems in Delaware County? Damn! Haha. We are few, but proud!

You know, the Delaware Dems had a booth at the Sunbury Flea Market on Memorial Day. In general, we were well-received and provided literature to a number of Democrats, some of them actually from Delaware County!. Although they have had booths in prior years, the Repubs were no where to be seen this year.
  • Great stuff. They need to set up a Flickr account so that they are easier to share.
  • Great photos!

The word "juxtapose" was ruined for me when my icky 7th grade science teacher (Mr. Grimes ... no joke!) wrote "juxtaposition of the labia" on the chalkboard and had us guess what it meant. When he said "It means to kiss on the lips" I nearly threw up.

At the University Heights parade the turnout for Sherrod was pathetic ... Steve drove the car, and I walked Sammy alongside, and that was it. (And I had to drop out because Sammy got overheated.) Strickland had at least a dozen people. Nobody for Blackwell.

Same situation in Chagrin Falls. Sherrod Brown's supporters outnumbered DeWine's 4-1, although admittedly they were combined with the Strickland marchers. Of course, Kenny Blackwell's "fans" were MIA.

I did not, but nice pick! I have a different one, but I'll let you guess what it is...
  • Did you know that juxtapose is my favorite word?? www.jillmillerzimon.com
