Wow. Anyone else find this incredibly dualistic and indicative of the horrible state of foreign policy our current administration – led by PNAC neocons – has given us? Expedite bombs to one side, humanitarian aid to the other. What the hell is wrong with us?

(WaPo) President Bush said yesterday that he will send more U.S. forces and equipment to Baghdad as part of a fresh strategy to put down rising sectarian violence, abandoning a six-week-old operation that failed to pacify the strife-torn Iraqi capital and opening what aides called an unexpected new phase of the war.

“Fresh strategy”. Gotta love that one. What? The other ones didn’t work? Tsk. I keep forgetting this is one of those “long wars”. Quite different from what we were told going in, right? Remember the liberator myth? Flowers and candy thrown at our feet? Mission Accomplished? Hell, even wingnuts are jumping off this bandwagon (follow-up to that here – it’s Steele from Maryland).
