Not only do both polls and evidence on the streets show this largely not happening, but it's almost like Blackwell is trying to antagonize the black community at the same time he's wooing them. Stephanie Tubbs Jones and her forces are getting ready to go out and step it up for Strickland. Do I think Blackwell will get SOME additional black vote? Sure -but compared to the moderate Republican and independent vote fleeing to Strickland and the Republican racists out in the boonies who won't vote for Blackwell, it'll be a drop in the bucket. I am not sure all of the black community is going to smack Blackwell upside the head. If you read the warning/comments made by Former Mayor Jack Ford he is concerned about the ability of Blackwell to attract voters based on his race first his politics second. I realize not everyone agrees with Ford's position on this, yet his latest piece <a href="http://www.thetruthtoledo.com/story/2006/July26-06/JackFord.htm" rel="nofollow">points out</a> that Allen's switch from Dem to Republican will probably be used as well as stating the lack of an Urban policy from Strickland has still not been presented.
