Ex-GOP Congressman Needs Someone to Dry His Tears
Outgoing Congressman Jim Ryun, R-KS, needs someone to pass him a tissue on his recent loss to Nancy Boyda. Today in the Topeka Capital-Journal Ryun gave one of the primary reasons for the loss:
Rep. Jim Ryun, R-Kan., blamed his re-election defeat Thursday on a range of influences, including overconfident campaign volunteers, news reports that questioned […]
Looooong week
I’m down at SuperComputing ‘06 this week, and despite spending a nice morning with family I have down here (lunch on the beach in Clearwater… fabulous), the first evening of the conference was a madhouse. I don’t expect the rest of the week to be any better. So, despite my best intentions, I […]
What GOP anti-liberal hate-mongering has wrought
Stumbled across this letter, allegedly from a soldier, decrying the result of the midterm elections as a terrible blow to morale:
Last night, while we watched the press conference with the President, there was utter discust, [sic] and the common feeling amongst us all that we soldiers are now the loneliest people on Earth…. we fight […]
The most hilarious thing I’ve ever read
A 25 point manifesto about the liberal agenda: The Right was Right. I tried to excerpt a few of my favorites, but I couldn’t do it - it would have been the entire list.
Ohio’s Schools in ‘much worser’ Shape than I thought
And this is why we don’t let kids vote…
Kids select Blackwell for governor, DeWine for senate
By Jill Gosche
Kids Voting USA participants selected a different route for the state of Ohio when they didn’t agree with their parents on several election races.

Mr. Puppies to Head RNC?
It looks like Michael “I Love Puppies” Steele has been offered the opportunity to replace Ken Mehlman as Chairman of the RNC.
There has also been talk of having Steele serve on the President’s cabinet.
No word yet on any job offers for out-going Ohio Secretary of State (and non-governor) Ken Blackwell.
Coultergeist - good for a chuckle
I think somebody should institutionalize this poor woman. She was teetering before, but this week’s election seems to have pushed her completely over the edge.
My favorite (and believe me, it wasn’t easy to pick only one):
In fact, if the Democrats’ pathetic gains in a sixth-year election are a statement about the war in Iraq, […]
Is liberalism really bereft of ideas?
If you listen to Jonah Goldberg, liberalism’s problem is it can’t “figur[e] out what it’s ideas are.” The Anonymous Liberal address Goldberg’s column expertly:
Which brings me to Jonah’s suggestion that “liberalism has a problem figuring out what its ideas are.” It’s not surprising that a conservative like Jonah would think this. But as I’ve […]
Cry, little Santorum, Cry!
Boo hoo hoo! My homophobic asshole father just got fired!
(note: she and her doll are wearing the same dress!)
What should be on the agenda
Now that it’s more-or-less official that the Senate has gone Blue, it’s time to start talking about what Democrats should want to try and get done.
At the national level:
Start reinserting some kind of oversight on Presidential action
Hold hearings on controversial bills passed over the past six years
Hold hearings on the administration of the Iraq War
Push […]
Vilsack (D-Iowa) throws his hat in the ring
766 days until Election Day 2008, and we’ve already got at least one official candidate for President: Tom Vilsack.
Democratic Gov. Tom Vilsack of Iowa took the initial step in his long-shot bid for the White House Thursday, establishing a presidential campaign committee and seeking an early jump on 2008.
“Americans sent a clear message on Tuesday. […]
Rush: I was lying to my listeners
Rush Limbaugh yesterday:
I’m liberated from having to constantly come in here every day and try to buck up a bunch of people who don’t deserve it, to try to carry the water and make excuses for people who don’t deserve it. I did not want to sit here and participate, willingly, in the victory of […]
Kilroy Refuses to Concede
Hope for my district: Kilroy is only down 3600 votes- with 16000 left to count…
Kilroy: Pryce ‘Definitely Jumped The Gun’

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Democratic congressional candidate Mary Jo Kilroy said Wednesday that she would not concede her race with Republican incumbent Rep. Deborah Pryce until all votes were counted.
Kilroy said she […]
Rain hurts Democrats the most…
THIS is a good story about Ohio’s recent elections that includes some funny quotes from Blackwell staffer Alex Tornero who, half-way through a rainy election day, with his candidate 20 points down in the polls, can still say, with a smile on his face:
“Rain hurts Democrats the most, Conservatives are always stronger on the […]
