PB Late Night Theater: Up Jumps Da Boogie
Last night’s music got me on a Timbaland kick. This was out ten years ago - I had forgotten Magoo. This reminds me of when I used to spin at keg parties in college. Good times. (I feel old.)
Marc Dann Is Really Starting to Piss Me Off
In his inaugural address Marc Dann pledged “to take on powerful politicians, corrupt corporations, entrenched special interests or anyone else who threatens the well-being of Ohioans.”
Earlier this week he proved he’s a man of his word- by getting tough on alcoholic energy drinks.
Way to go, Marc.
p.s. Is anyone else wishing Subodh Chandra didn’t lose the […]
Do you believe surrender in Iraq will increase the terror threat to America?
That’s how Ari “Mouth of Sauron” Fleischer’s new organization - Freedom’s Watch - answers their phones. They are encouraging people to call their Congressman - by calling Freedom’s Watch. If you support the war, they connect you thru to Congress, as documented in this video from Americans United for Change.
You can see Freedom’s […]
Public Schools Beat-Out Charters- Again
From Gongwer:
Economically disadvantaged pupils in traditional public school scored better on all 28 state achievement tests than their counterparts attending charter schools, the Coalition for Public Education said Wednesday.
The Department of Education’s recent state report card shows that the same student groups that tend to enroll in charter schools achieved higher test scores when […]
Karl Rove: inspiration for a movie supervillain
No, seriously.
I meet Paul Giamatti in [the New York neighborhood] SoHo on the hottest day of the summer…He says he’d like his character to be based on Karl Rove — a seemingly bookish guy who exercises power behind the scenes. I like it. His character turns out to be way more flamboyant than Rove … […]
The Jena Six
Stick with the video. It’s about double standards and racial injustice… still alive in the South today.
The President and Press should not be exposed to negative opinions
We’ve all known that Bush’s public appearances have attempted to carefully control access to “lock out” any kind of protesters. However, that just scratches the surface.
To counter any demonstrators who do get in, advance teams are told to create “rally squads” of volunteers with large hand-held signs, placards or banners with “favorable messages.” Squads […]
Bush interfering with states that wish to expand the social safety net
That’s right, President Bush has set new policies that would actually prevent individual states from expanding the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
The Bush administration, continuing its fight to stop states from expanding the popular Children’s Health Insurance Program, has adopted new standards that would make it much more difficult for New York, California and others to […]
God’s Warriors
Last night, CNN debuted part one of “God’s Warriors”, a three-part series looking at people of the three Mosaic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) who feel they are God’s Warriors. Last night was Judaism, tonight (9PM) Islam, and tomorrow (also 9PM) Christianity.
Here’s an example of the “God Warrior” concept found on GodTube.
And a preview […]
Romney: Birth control = abortion!
From the Baltimore Sun:
At National Right to Life’s conference this year, Mitt Romney set out to convince anti-abortion leaders he was their candidate. At the podium, he rattled off his qualifications. To a layman’s ears, it sounded pretty standard for abortion politics. He wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. He supports teaching only abstinence to […]
Burress has his fingers in lots of sticky pies… and Brinkman is helping him out.
From yesterday’s Cinci Enquirer blog:
Two women convicted of falsifying election petitions to meet quotas for bonuses were put on probation and ordered to do 200 hours of community service, but a judge said they were minor players in a much larger “mean-spirited campaign.”
Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Robert Ruehlman reiterated Monday what he said last […]
Secret Ballots are for Wimps
Another problem has been discovered with Ohio’s wonderful voting process:
Ohio law permits anyone to walk into a county election office and obtain two crucial documents: a list of voters in the order they voted, and a time-stamped list of the actual votes. “We simply take the two pieces of paper together, merge them, and then […]
The candidate most in-tune with America is…
…punching bag for the Ohio liberal blogosphere, Dennis Kucinich.
No, really. An online poll allows people to support/oppose issues, and weight how important the issues are, and then it tells you how closely each candidate matches your views, and Kucinich is running away with it.
Yes, it’s a self-selecting online poll. No, it’s not scientific. […]
