You cannot believe in God and vote against the hate bill. Homosexuality is not anything I ascribe to, but as human beings and as unfortunates in this society, we must protect them as we would the disabled and impaired. If it is an abomination unto the Lord, the Lord will see to their fate. It is not"man"s job or conceit to judge or punish.
Respectfully, C Mann

Sure Jill. I've been there.

Some people make bad choices for good reasons.

And others, good choices for bad reasons.

And SOME people just believe that God will take care of everything- as long as they believe in Him.

Me? I just try to do the RIGHT thing.

I appreciate that, Brian. So, seriously, because I simply don't know - what proportion of folks who hear him DO really believe it? I'm assuming some believe because they want to so badly, some believe because they really do and some are hedging their bets.

Let me add that I really do mean this, about some people sincerely being able to believe what a man like him says: I worked somewhere once where top people were making really awful, money-only motivated decisions. But the most senior person really, honestly, truly believed that they were justified in some of their choices (that enriched them) because he also felt that in the end, the choices they made DID provide a better product. Ultimately, the unscrupulous decisions brought everyone down, but to this day, I really, really believe that even though the most senior person should not have allowed what happen to go on, I do believe that, unlike those under him, this top guy honestly thought he was doing it for the customer.

My opinion of Rod Parsley can be effectively summed up in a warning Jesus gave in His sermon on the mount:

<blockquote>Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS."</blockquote>

Pastor Parsley had better watch himself, or he'll spend eternity wishing for asbestos undies.

Well, technically, he didn't say God spoke to him.

He said "God prophetically inspired" ( or was that profit-ically inspired him? ) him with the "themes" of his book.

But I'm with you, Jill.

The guy is a fraud and a charlatan.

And if there IS a Heaven and a Hell then Rod is certainly going to be spending a lot of time in the latter.

Hands down best part:
"My “New York Times” best-selling book “Culturally Incorrect.” God prophetically inspired me with the themes of this book to show our country how worldviews diametrically opposed to the Bible are bringing this nation to chaos."

The five-DVD “Culturally Incorrect” set, with five of my most powerful sermons on the subject of opposing worldviews and how believers must unite to save our nation and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.

“Silent No More,” the powerful book the Lord gave me as a clarion cry for Christ-followers across America and around the world to bring His loving touch to every needy soul and be part of the worldwide revival that will usher in Christ’s coming."

I know there are people who sincerely believe that people who say that God has spoken to them sincerely believe that...God has spoken to those people. I mean no disrespect.

But the exploitation of those people infuriates me - even if they say that they don't feel exploited. Fine. Don't feel exploited. That's not going to change my view of what Parsley is doing - which is that it's exploitive and wrong, for so many reasons.
