Bush: Saddam Hussein Killed Nelson Mandela


“Blundering US leader” is right:

South Africa has been forced to prove Nelson Mandella is still alive after gaffe-prone George Bush made it sound like the former president had died.

The blundering US leader created the confusion when he said “all the Mandelas are dead” when talking about politicians in Iraq.

But the Nelson Mandela Foundation quickly assured the world that South Africa’s first black president, who was jailed for 27 years during the Apartheid era, was still alive.

Its chief executive Achmat Dangor said: “It’s out there. All we can do is reassure people, especially South Africans, that President Mandela is alive.”

Bush made the comments in a speech defending his Iraq policy, claiming former dictaor Saddam Hussein’s brutality had stifled efforts to find a unifying leader to stop the violence that has engulfed the Middle Eastern nation.

“I heard somebody say, Where’s Mandela?’ Well, Mandela’s dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas,”
