However, most of the rhetoric from the pro-gun camp is about how you <em>need</em> a gun to <a href="http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/article3925.html" rel="nofollow">protect yourself from all the scary stuff</a> out there. It's my contention that there isn't as much "scary stuff" out there as pro-gun advocacy groups try to convince people there is, and that you can protect yourself from most of that via simple awareness and easy, non-intrusive changes to your security routine. But regardless, they are another primarily right-wing group trying to use fear to leverage people. Pointing out that BS doesn't say anything one way or the other about gun ownership. #2: Please note, I’m not anti-firearm. Personally, I prefer to carry openly, but in some states a concealed weapon is all that one can do. When I carry, I do so not out of fear, but because I am willing to defend myself and those around me against aggression. This is very different from those who try to convince us that a third world nation is going to somehow invade America.
