House Finally Passes ENDA
The house FINALLY passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) today (it only took 33 years).
The bill protects people from being fired or discriminated against at work because of their sexual orientation.
And, despite all of the whining and complaining from christofascist wingnuts that this bill would somehow infringe on the rights of good christians everywhere who want to randomly fire and discriminate against gay people at the office, this bill received decent bi-partisan support.
Not only was it re-introduced by two Democrats and two Republicans (including our own Deborah Pryce) but it also got 35 Republican votes today when the house passed it.
Of course, Bush has threatened to veto it because, as we all know, he hates teh gays.
But that’s a different battle for a different day.
