Bill Clinton “roundly criticized as anti-Israel”?
Reading through my google alerts this morning I found this semi-interesting piece of news with a really big mistake:
Former American Presidents George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton have been delegated by the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations to be honorary heads of a committee planning festivities for Israel’s 60th anniversary next May. Clinton has been roundly criticized as anti-Israel following this year’s publication of his book Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.
Obviously, the book mentioned in the article- and the associated criticism – both belong to former president Jimmy Carter not Bill Clinton.
Clinton is a big pro-Israel guy. He’s even been accused of going overboard with his pandering to Jewish audiences. “If Iraq came across the Jordan River (into Israel)”, Bill once said. “I would grab a rifle and get in the trench and fight and die.”
It looks like someone at israelnationalnews.com caught the mistake because clicking on the link included in the alert shows the same article with the last line changed to:
The organization said it is “excited and pleased that these two most distinguished American leaders have agreed to serve as the honorary co-chairmen.”
