Someone like Anita Nelam who supposedly never graduated college and has a history of bankruptcy is hardly the kind of person you want to trust with the education of our children or with millions in tax payer dollars. Harte Crossroads is the perfect example of what NOT to do. However, there are at least a few positive examples out there. For example, <a href="http://www.plunderbund.com/2007/12/31/new-columbus-charter-school-might-just-work/" rel="nofollow">KIPP schools</a>- who will be opening a middle school in columbus this year- chose a former Math teach from Euclid to be the school's principal- and then sent her to Stanford University for a year to prepare for the job. We also need to be a lot more careful about who we allow to open/run schools.
