Tom Blumer at Bizzyblog.com is a Motherfucker

Now hold on now. Don’t get too excited or ahead of yourself. If you’ve already started to comment, stop.

I don’t mean motherfucker in the way you may think I do. There are several meanings based on context and connotations that you can apply to the term motherfucker.

For instance, I might say to you “fuck you, you motherfucker. i hate your stupid ass”. Connotation and meaning in this particular instance is – obviously – negative.

However, I might also say “what’s up motherfucker! i’ve not seen your stupid ass in forever!”. Connotation and meaning in this particular situation is as you’ve guessed fairly positive – for both “stupid ass” AND “motherfucker”.

Wikipedia gives us yet more examples:

As an word-combine: “I’m so Con-motherfucking-fused (Confused+Motherfucker=Conmotherfuckingfused)”
As an explicit profanity: “Yippie Kai Yay motherfucker”
As an insult: “Johnny, you motherfucker!”
As an adjective of dislike: “I’ll hate you motherfucking people “
As a neutral pronoun: “Johnny, this party is one motherfucker.”
As a synonym of ‘very’: “I am motherfucking happy right now!”

So when I say Tom is a motherfucker, you can be sure I’m using it in the more familiar positive sense. If I were to continue to use it, say for instance in every mention of his name (ie Tom “Motherfucker” Blumer), this would hold to be true in those instances as well – whether or not I explicitly make this known.

Which all goes to make the point that words can be used – the same exact words – in different ways. The human mind, luckily, is able to pick up on these subtle differences and we get what is known as communication. We also get what is known as smelling bullshit from a mile away.

So when Tom tries to claim that he’s using Barack Obama’s middle name Hussein in the same way the candidate himself did back in October of 2007, you can rest assured that this is just Tom’s way of truly being a motherfucker. I’ll leave that last connotation up to you.
