McCain November Strategy Preview: Good Cop, Bad Cop
So the North Carolina GOP puts together a vile down ticket ad and McCain rebukes it strongly in a memo.
LOL. Good cop. Bad cop.
Rinse.
Repeat.
No More State Income Tax! (and other election-year lies)
You can tell it’s an election year because a bunch of Republican lawmakers are proposing tax cut legislation that they know will never get passed.
This time it’s a proposal to completely phase out Ohio’s income tax.
The stated goal of the income tax elimination is to “stem the state’s population decline and improve its economy”.
Silly Republicans. […]
Hillary Fans and Apologists Risk Diluting Meaning of Misogyny
Is this magazine cover misogynistic?
…of course not. I’m not sure how you can get “woman hating” out of something like this. Jill thinks it is.
There is a danger here. Much like the danger in every criticism of Obama being characterized as racist (some are, some aren’t). We risk diluting […]
The Low Road to Victory
Best summed up by the NYT (who endorsed Hillary mind you):
The Pennsylvania campaign, which produced yet another inconclusive result on Tuesday, was even meaner, more vacuous, more desperate, and more filled with pandering than the mean, vacuous, desperate, pander-filled contests that preceded it.
Voters are getting tired of it; it is demeaning the political process; […]
Dann’s Office Now Scandal Free (Sorry Matt)
After 50-odd posts about the Marc Dann scandal- I’m sure Matt Naugle is really, really pissed to hear this news:
Columbus police say they won’t file criminal charges against an aide in the Attorney General’s office over a junior staff member’s allegation that he sexually harassed her.
In a brief statement, police said Tuesday that an […]
Willie Horton Redux
Yep. The bastards are back!
Starting Tuesday, a group of conservative activists led by Floyd Brown, author of the famous Willie Horton ad used so effectively against Michael Dukakis in 1988, will begin a campaign to tar Obama as weak on crime and terrorism, a strategy that aims to upend Obama’s relatively strong reputation among […]
Happy Equal Pay Day
If you are an average woman, today you caught up with your male peers… for their 2007 income.
Today is Equal Pay Day. If you’re a woman, today marks how far into the year you must work, on average, to earn as much as man with a comparable job earned in 2007. It’s sickening to think […]
Expelled!
I mentioned this a few months back (and am not motivated enough to track it down), but this past weekend Ben Stein’s new “documentary” Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed opened to sub-Uwe Boll numbers. And it’s been absolutely eviscerated by anybody who knows anything.
Rarely has a movie subtitle so capably assessed a movie’s content as […]
Further Proof Obama Is Not Muslim
Until this morning, a seller on ebay was offering the half-eaten leftovers from Barack Obama’s breakfast at the Gilder Diner in Scranton, PA…
The item description:
THIS IS BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA’S BREAKFAST FROM THIS MORNING, 4-21-08 AT THE GLIDER DINER IN SCRANTON, PA. WINNER GETS HIS USED DINER PLATE WITH HIS USED SILVERWARE AND […]
AEP Cuts My Power to Protest the New Energy Bill?
I know AEP is pissed about the new energy bill that just passed the house this morning because the bill - thanks to a lot of push-back by Governor Strickland - won’t let AEP immediately raise our rates like they wanted.
Funny coincidence though. Not but an hour after the bill was passed my power […]
Bush’s disapproval rating worst of any president in 70 years
It appears the American people have spoken: No Deal!
(USA Today) Only 28% of Americans approve of George W. Bush’s handling of the presidency, a new low for his administration, USA Today reports. In addition, his disapproval rate—69%—is the lowest in the 70-year history of the Gallup poll. Dissatisfaction over war in Iraq and the […]
The Energy Bill Finally Passes!
I just heard that the House FINALLY passed the revised energy bill 91-1. Don’t hold me to that number- but it definitely did pass.
It looks like Tom Patton (R-18) from Strongsville is the only one who voted no.
UPDATE:
The actual vote was 93-1.
UPDATE:
My power went out about 15 minutes after this vote finished and […]
South Carolina Pastor Hints at Wingnut Attacks in the Fall
Get ready for more of this:
Pastor Roger Byrd said that he just wanted to get people thinking. So last Thursday, he put a new message on the sign at the Jonesville Church of God.
It reads: “Obama, Osama, hmm, are they brothers?”
Byrd said that the message wasn’t meant to be racial or political.
“It’s simply to cause […]
Liam Says Happy Earth Day!
Gosh. Have a baby and all of a sudden everything becomes about them. I’ve got a decent enough segue though. We’ve decided to eschew normal disposable diapers for a new “hybrid” design called “g diapers“. They are a study in both design and ingenuity.
Normal diapers are all in one […]
