Petition: Mark Dann Should Resign!

Update 5/5/08 12:00pm: Dems will Impeach if Dann Doesn’t Step Down

Update 5/5/08 11:30am: All Statewide Dems Call on Dann to Resign

In light of recent events surrounding the conduct of the Attorney General and his staff, we the undersigned hereby call on Marc Dann to resign his position immediately so that the work can begin on a replacement. We feel it is necessary to act quickly to regain the trust of the people of Ohio. We also feel that Marc is ultimately responsible for the conduct in his office and the resulting climate it produced.

By signing we are saying in no uncertain terms: Resign Marc Dann!

This petition is one formed out of a concern for good government and our willingness to hold even progressives accountable for proper conduct in office. All are welcome to sign. The only thing this petition seeks to address is the opinion of those in the Ohio blogosphere as to the resignation of the current Attorney General.

See the poll to the right as well.

@bakalar: hehe. nice.

I was willing to give Mr. Dann the benefit of the doubt. But since there is no longer any doubt, he should not benefit.

Ben Espy would make a fine attorney general.

The pressure mounts!

[…]Marc Dann is a serious embarassment to every Ohioan, not just the Democrats. More than any other State official, except the Governor, the Attorney General must project a serious, capable image in order to successfully advocate for the consumers, the State, and victims of crime. It is no place for a frat boy who never grew up.

The other Statewide officials and the Democratic Party are to be commended for their swift and decisive response to the scandal (removal of partisan support and the threat of impeachment), which sets a new standard for Ohio politics[…]
