So I’m sitting home flipping through channels when suddenly I come across the famous lightsaber fight scene from The Empire Strikes Back. You know… the one where Darth Vader tells Luke Skywalker he’s his father?

Anyway… I guess I spend too much time thinking about politics because the first thing I notice is that Darth Vader’s lightsaber is red (like the Republicans) and Luke’s is Blue (like the Dems).

So I check Wikipedia to see if I’m right about the color thing.

Of course Wikipedia has a really long lightsaber entry with way more detail than I ever needed. Here’s the relevant part:

Red is usually associated with the Sith whereas blue and green colors are usually associated with the Jedi… Red is used by the Sith because the red crystals are found in places where the dark side of the Force is strong.

So it turns out I’m right!

Democrats are good while Republicans represent the dark side of the force.

I look forward to hearing the counter arguments to this one… Maybe from a Starfleet Commander?
