Jesus, Bigfoot and the Radio Hall of Fame
The Museum of Broadcast Communications just announced its 2008 inductees for the National Radio Hall of Fame. The list include James Dobson – presumably in the Christofascism/Homophobia category.
Fortunately they also balanced out the list by including Art Bell – king of the late-night, paranormal-themed call-in talk show.
Bell’s inclusion certainly doesn’t make up for giving an award to Dobson for his hate-filled radio program – a guy who claims that tolerance and diversity are “buzzwords for homosexual advocacy” – but at least it puts Dobson’s Christian theology in the same category as Bell’s UFOs, Bigfoot sightings and government conspiracies i.e. interesting, unprovable, mythical topics that draw large radio audiences.
