Breaking: Man Arrested in Florida for Threatening to Assassinate Obama

Tim is looking more and more right as this thing goes on. Somebody is going to get hurt.

MIAMI (AP) — A man who authorities said was keeping weapons and military-style gear in his hotel room and car appeared in court Thursday on charges he threatened to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Raymond Hunter Geisel, 22, was arrested by the Secret Service on Saturday in Miami and was ordered held at Miami’s downtown detention center without bail Thursday by a federal magistrate.

A Secret Service affidavit charges that Geisel made the threat during a training class for bail bondsmen in Miami in late July. According to someone else in the 48-member class, Geisel allegedly referred to Obama with a racial epithet and continued, “If he gets elected, I’ll assassinate him myself.”

When a wingnut photographer is allowed to enter the press area with a “good shot” at the Presidential candidate and clearly disrupts the event in an anti-Obama screed, things need to get much, much better from a security standpoint. Hopefully this will spur that on.

    John Quinn made a terrible choice to interrupt the townhall meeting especially from the press area. But he is not a dangerous wingnut. I have known him for decades, and his brother is a good friend of mine. When I queried his brother about the incident, he said,

    “I asked him “what were you thinking” he said “I’m not sure what came over me, I am a huge Obama supporter, but I thought it important to start the town meeting off with the Pledge. I feel I did it for Dad (a WWII Vet) and cousin David (who was killed in Vietnam).”

    Also, the last crazy I recall being nabbed for making threats against Obama was also threatening to kill Hillary. Crazy wingnuts often have multiple grudges.

    You know. I remember seeing your comments from Kos that were emailed to me. The wingnut thing is not fair in light of that and I should strike it. I will.

    um…..this makes no sense, anastasia. if he is such an obama supporter, then why wouldn’t he give his name? why did he flee without identifying himself?
