Wingnut Prays for Rain in Denver on August 28th

The background: Focus Action, the political arm of Focus on the Family published a video by director of digital media Stuart Shepard in which Stuart asked people to pray for it to rain on Obama’s acceptance speech at Mile High in Denver. You know it’s a bad sign when Focus members force them to pull the video. It was, afterall, kinda mean.

The setup: God bless Pandagon. And Pam Spaulding. Seriously. Such a kindred spirit in nuggets of absolute hilarity. Now what’s so funny about this latest one is this: During a conversation one night with my friend and fellow blogger Tim Russo (Blogger Interrupted) we’re talking about the acceptance speech in Denver. He says to me, “You know what would be fuckin’ great?” “What?” “If it rained like a motherfucker…and people were like cheering…and laughing…and Obama was undaunted…and the people were undaunted. They all just overcame it like we’ll overcome the bastards during the election season to win. Wouldn’t that be great?”

The punchline: At the time I didn’t really think so, but now after having seen this video and read Pam’s post, I have to agree with Tim. It’d be great!

i hope it pours like a bloody hurricane.

[...] I tried to tell you that rain wouldn’t dampen the desire for change. Rain wouldn’t dampen the enthusiasm we all have for a fresh new brand of leadership.
