“Drill Now” My Ass!

It turns out McCain’s “Drill Here, Drill Now” message isn’t really being embraced by House Republicans.

I guess someone isn’t reading the daily talking points memo issued by the campaign.

Either that, or the whole drilling controversy is a bunch of bullshit- a fake solution to a very real problem- one of those “common sense” (but completely untrue) answers that the Republicans hope will provide an election year sound bite but never actually plan to implement. You know, like balanced budgets and middle class tax breaks.

Based on some new information, I’m guessing it’s the second:

House Republicans said Monday they would refuse to consider any energy bill that came straight to the floor from the Democratic leadership’s offices, rather than working its way through committee markups — a process that can take weeks or months.

Note: “An energy package that would expand offshore drilling will come to the House floor in September.”
