Nielsen: Obama Beats American Idol, Olympics and Academy Awards

Meant to post this earlier but the whole McCain VP thing had me distracted.

According to the Nielsen ratings people:

Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention was seen by more than 38 million people.

Nielsen Media Research said more people watched Obama speak than watched the Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing, the final “American Idol” or the Academy Awards this year. Obama talked before a live audience of 80,000 people in Denver.

It may have been 38 million plus in the US, what about world wide?
We saw it at wake up time here in Jordan. Everyone ran late that day.
And everyone I know was definitely impressed.
