“Beyond Doubt” Colin Powell Endorses Obama

There has been quite a bit of speculation about this for some time - going back to June. Colin Powell to endorse Barack Obama over John McCain for President? Chatter is still going on:

It now seems beyond doubt that Colin Powell will endorse Barack Obama and thereby hammer the final nail in the coffin of the Republican campaign to hold onto the White House.

I hope this is in the works and well timed. It could surely dominate the news cycle. I’d wait until the next Republican smear job and drop it then. It could be huge. It would signal a complete rejection of the Bush-McCain foreign policy and potentially put Obama over the top in being seen as Commander in Chief.

Republican smear job? When will the first one come? There haven’t been any “smears” so far, other than the consistently dishonest Obama ads against McCain.

Mike, please pay more attention. You’re not being honest with yourself.

I’d be happy with Powell’s endorsement for no other reason than what it’ll mean to those not politically attuned. For most people, Powell is still viewed with the highest regard. For guys like me, he forever tarnished his legacy with his service in the Bush admin. And his darkest moment came with the security council briefing where he advocated for preemptive war.

Plus, it’ll be fun to see the Republicans try to spin how it’s not a big deal.
