Matt over at WMD seems to have heard that Mike Dewine is going to run for Attorney General.
News which, if true, is really quite strange. How often have you heard of two-term Senators turning around and running for statewide office? Governor, maybe. But Attorney General?
The AG’s office is typically a stepping stone to bigger and better things. You know… like Senator.
I guess some people just don’t know when to give up.

Full Story... →John Boehner has been spending a lot of time whining about not seeing any stimulus money being spent. He actually went so far as to publish some lame ass web video with a hound dog trying to find stimulus projects.
In this great piece CNN calls him out and proves he’s full of shit: millions and millions of stimulus dollars have been spent IN HIS DISTRICT.
The best part is when fellow Republican Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones talks about all of the money he received and how it was helping him employ extra deputies to keep the residents [...]
Full Story... →If there was any self awareness among those on the right they’d be rightly embarrassed by the state of their so-called leadership. That’s a big if. The lack of self awareness is fairly well documented. The entire wingnut base is either afraid to look in the mirror or damned proud of their insipid emptiness.
The first dose of this vapid wasteland of ideas came in the form of a Governor from Alaska who had a sly little wink and a folksy manner that endeared her to masses of American zombies who were lobotomized by years of listening to a [...]
Full Story... →So, I’ve been baffled by Sarah Palin’s oddball resignation from her job as elected AK Governor. CW says that she’s aiming to set herself up for a run for the White House in 2012, but the bizzare circumstances of her exit from AK make it pretty likely that she’d have a hard time successfully navigating the primaries, despite her rabidly loyal (and brainless) base.
Overnight on her twitter feed, this showed up:
….”Most newspapermen by definition have to be liberal; if they’re not, by my definition, they can hardly be good newspapermen” W. Cronkite
Well, Cronkite clearly admitted that [...]
Full Story... →In case I haven’t mentioned it in awhile, I’m a data junkie. And Jennifer Brunner’s office just made my day by announcing a new website called Better Lives, Better Ohio that allows you to search through all kinds of information about Ohio. Everything from economic data to public safety data.
Here’s what I found in the first 10 minutes of searching:
Fayette and Vinton counties had the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the state. Nearly 10% of girls between 15 and 19 got pregnant in 2006. Delaware county was the lowest with about 3%.
21.27% of the people in [...]
Full Story... →Earlier this week Modern at BSB suggested we get rid of the State Senate since they can’t seem to get anything accomplished are they are stalling the budget process.
An interesting idea, but probably not very likely.
However New York’s State Comptroller, facing a similiar issue with his State Senate, has given us another option that I never would have thought of.
According to Gawker “comptroller Thomas ‘The Clench’ DiNapoli has stopped paying the New York Senate until they get their shit in gear. He’s withholding their paychecks along with $560,000 worth of travel vouchers until they get [...]
Full Story... →I got an email this morning from Steve Stivers announcing his intention to again challenge Mary Jo Kilroy in the 15th next year.
And I can tell he is really serious this time because the text of the email was HUGE (36 points in some places) and the headline was followed by multiple exclamation points.
It kind of reminded me of the emails you get from the office administrator announcing the upcoming company picnic. I’m actually surprised that it wasn’t written in bright blue Comic Sans bold.
And while the email was BIG on font size, it was very short [...]
Full Story... →I just saw my first Kasich for Gov ad… in Google Mail.
I clicked on the ad a bunch of times and will continue to click it every time I see it. I’m sure they aren’t paying much for the click-throughs – but every dime helps, I suppose.
Full Story... →It’s difficult for me to pick an absolute favorite part of today’s disaster of a speech by Sarah Palin.
Sure, I’m extremely happy that she took CNN away from the all-Michael-Jackson-all-the-time news cycle of the past week.
And yes, I found it amazingly hilarious that the state-owned Governor’s website published the full text of the her obviously unrehearsed ramblings complete with the stressed words in ALL CAPS.
Also pretty great: She thinks God put all of that oil and natural gas under the ground in Alaska: “It’s energy! God gave us energy.”
A close runner-up for the best [...]
