The Obama We Need on Wednesday

On September 7, 2009 By

If this is a warmup, I want to see the speech NOW! Damn:

Bring some of this on Wednesday, Barack. This will cure the Van Jones funk. Lose battles. Win wars.

I nearly lost this email coming through from camp Brunner in the shuffle and mess of my inbox. It’s not the typical thing I pick up on, either. It’s a bit dry, slightly dense, and not at all controversial really. Not very Plunderbund.

It is important, though. Safeguarding retiree pensions. Labor Day will always be just another long weekend for most people – me included. The real meaning of Labor Day, however, is to honor the worker. The millions of people working hard over the course of lifetimes to build the middle class of America. The strength of our [...]

Following up on Amber’s excellent post about a Dispatch article which talks about ignorant parents forcing both Dublin and Olentangy school districts to cancel viewing the speech in classes.

As a public service to my readers, I thought I should shed some light on this evil plot to indoctrinate our children into socialist societies through charismatic political osmosis by one Barack HUSSEIN Obama. Full text of the speech follows:

OK, I’m not feeling quite as embarrassed about my home state given this Ohio tidbit:

Former Rep. Jim Traficant (D-OH), who was released from prison last week after serving seven years for corruption charges, was greeted in Youngstown, Ohio, Sunday night by 1,200 supporters, including an Elvis impersonator, polka band and those vying for best Traficant look-alike.

Big Blue Embarassment

On September 7, 2009 By

Yes, this fucking embarrasses me:

A new Research 2000 poll released by Daily Kos shows that only a slight majority ? 51 percent ? of Kentuckians believe President Obama was born in this country. Twenty percent said they think he was born elsewhere, and 29 percent said they weren?t sure. ?While 94 percent of black respondents said they think Obama was born in the United States, only 45 percent of white respondents were certain that he was born here.?

Deep Thought

Wingnuts use system of interconnected computers and networking protocols first conceived by Government funded entities and taxpayer funded research to decry Socialism.

So my wife and I had a ‘discussion’ tonight about our neighbor’s name. I’m convinced his name is Jeff. She’s not so sure.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to find out the answer because the Franklin County Auditor’s Property Search page no longer works.

And while I didn’t find out my neighbor’s name, I did find out something when I visited the Auditor’s site: we have a new auditor! Oh, and he’s a black Republican! (seriously!)

After a little research I learned that Joe Testa retired a few weeks ago. And because he was a Republican, the Franklin County GOP [...]

Why won’t Glenn Beck address the rumor that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990?

This site exists to try and help examine the vicious rumour that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. We don’t claim to know the truth — only that the rumour floating around saying that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 should be discussed. So we’re going to do our part to try and help get to the bottom of this.

Why won’t Glenn Beck deny these allegations?

I mean, I don’t know if [...]

If I were still in school…

On September 4, 2009 By

…I would think adults are all crazy.

I haven’t posted anything here in a long time, but when I saw this story, I had to write something.

I have to hand it to Bill Bush, the reporter, for this lead:

School districts across central Ohio learned yesterday that the list of things parents want their children protected from — drugs, predators, violence — now includes the president of the United States delivering a “stay in school” message.

As he notes, George Bush also addressed the nation’s students in a similar back-to-school message and I don’t remember stories about [...]

Many of you have seen this:

Here it is from Matt’s point of view:

Why’d you make us wait so long, Matt? Good seeing you buddy!

This comment by Jeff Hess over at Tim’s place made me finally comment on this Glenn Beck advertiser boycott thing:

Here?s the piece of data missing from all of this:

Are these 57 companies pulling their advertising from Beck?s show but not from Faux?

In other words, is Faux collecting the same amount of money from these same companies and simply shifting advertisers around?

I don?t watch TV, but it would be interesting to know if the number of minutes on Beck?s show has remained the same or is he actually running more editorial and less advertising.

If the [...]
