Yes, there are countries and cultures that accept this type of abuse. But in the good ol' US of A it is illegal and anyone caught abusing their children - for whatever reason - will be subject to our laws.

The Rifqa case has been investigated by the authorities in two different states and no abuse has been found.

There are tens of thousands of REAL domestic violence cases in Ohio. And if Pam and her friends really wanted to help they'd be having rallies to protect these actual victims.

Yes, domestic violence is a big problem in every society, I don't dispute that. But domestic violence under a cloak of religion is far more serious problem and it's far more common in the Islamic world than in the West. Variety of Islamic teachings in most countries lead many to use its teachings as excuses to punish, abuse, or kill women, in addition to old cultural and tribal customs encouraging or tolerating such cruel behaviors. When you combine all of that, we would have a very hard time telling the followers of Islam that they got a very serious problem. They're more apt to tell us that we have no right to question and criticize Islamic teachings and call us "Islamophobic".

Then we have much bigger problems.

Geller is more interesting in bringing awareness about domestic violence in Islam. I think she may have been a victim of domestic violence herself, perhaps she's bringing out all the rage upon Islam for all the unspoken victims and the dead?

Domestic violence is a huge problem in every society, culture and religious group. Ohio police officers go on 75,000 domestic violence calls a year. And I can imagine a good portion of these wife beaters are regular Christian church goers.

Geller and Spencer don't give two shits about domestic violence. They only care about portraying a negative image of Muslims.

I was at that rally. Those “Secret Services”-type guys work for a private security firm, providing protection for Robert Spencer and Pam Geller. One of them is a retired Marine (I chatted with him briefly, nice guy). You omitted a picture of a big display poster of Muslim women pictured with bruises, swollen lips, black eyes, with descriptions of what happened to them. Some of them were dead at the hands of Muslim husbands, fathers or siblings. These were real abuses. There were few Arabic-American and Iranian-American attendees and they supported the rally 100%.

Nice stereotypical, ad hominen comments here. If you all attend that rally, you would all have know the real story and get to know some of the people there. They don't like Islam, its supremacist-followers, and its oppressive ideology. And you called yourself progressives? What a joke.

Hey you idiot you're the intolerant one calling people nutjob for their beliefs. Though I don't agree that Islam is of the devil I do believe that Shariah Law is. Maybe you should spend your time educating your readers about the shariah court system being established in the United States in Texas, instead of spreading your own brand of hatred and your own spin on things maybe you should find out what's really going on. How about the honor killings in America do you cover those as hatred?

One thing that should be noted - the ones with the shirts demonizing Islam were less than 10 percent of crowd. They were from the Gainesville, Florida "Dove World Outreach Center."
