one of the reasons i'm a vikings fan is that minnesota has so much more to offer its citizens than professional sports. i lived in MN when the twins won the world series in 1991 and i was probably the most excited person up there. the natives were like, "yay. we won. now let's go ice skating or swap our wives." hehe ohioans are so bored they get bent about all this meaningless sports crud and then exchange heated comments and insults on a political blog. yoiks! i'm cheering for the wolverines against osu for the first time ever this year. when is that game?

"Well, what I wrote in 2006 seems pretty true statement about the Steelers right now." LOL. Really? I guess winning another Super Bowl since is clear evidence of being a one hit wonder. Speaking of delusion.

We must beat Baltimore. No doubt. You still can't read when you continue to talk about 4 years since playoffs blah blah when I'm talking about the time between the last time your team swept us. We normally don't have to count so high we've done it so much.

I felt compelled, Modern, because you posted the first Who Dey bullshit on this blog. You expected me to join in? Haha. Sorry, bud. Of course I won't root for you guys DURING THE SEASON. Reading comprehension rears it's ugly head once again. I'm just generally not a hater like most fans of most losing franchises.

It does drive me crazy that my team is losing. Guilty as charged. You've not seen nothing until you've seen UK play poorly and have a bad year.

Both teams lost games they shouldn't have and had you not gone all Who Dey here I probably wouldn't bother with posts like this. You started it. I'll finish it and I'm pretty sure in the end I'll get the last laugh.

You still haven't answered a very simple question above: Who Dey! Who Dey! Who Dey ever won a Super Bowl?

Well, what I wrote in 2006 seems pretty true statement about the Steelers right now. Regardless, my jersey isn't dusty as I've been a Bengals fan all my life, including during the Lost Decade of the 1990s. Before it was stolen I used to have Anthony Munoz, Chris Collingsworth, Ken Anderson and the rest of the 1983 team's autograph.

Eric, this isn't college football where your program's legacy matters one iota as to whether you're going to be in contention for the national championship. It's one season at a time and one game at a time. You keep talking about reading skills and yet you cite one irrelevant stat after another. It's about the record. And right now, Pittsburgh must beat Baltimore or its season is likely over.

And, no, professional football isn't like a party primary. I don't root for our division, I root for my team as does just about every fan I know. What do I get from another team in my division doing well? Nothing, because I'm a fan of a TEAM not a DIVISION.

Nothing is worse than a Steelers fan struggling to cope with a bad season. Having nothing credible to say about your own team's season, you rush to adopt another team wins as your own team's and then bristle when those fans respond.

Seriously, you have Bengal Derangement Syndrome. You keep writing that the Bengals don't matter, and yet, here you are writing about them to rub in any loss, EVEN WHEN YOUR TEAM LOSES. If the Bengals' success this year is meaningless, then why are you writing about it?

Why did you feel compelled to rub it in even though your team was embarassed on Sunday and is looking like its in poor physical shape for what is likely its most important game in the season?

It's because it drives you crazy that your team is losing, so you instead what to focus on other teams to try to pull your team up.

I remember the 3 win season eleven years ago when we beat the Steelers twice, but I much prefer this year.

We lost a game we shouldn't have due for mental errors, and thus, lost a good opportunity to distance ourselves from the AFC North pack even further. So with the dwindling schedule, we held our ground instead of possibly breaking away from the Steelers even further. So what?

I'm glad that beating up on my team over a rather meaningless loss from your surrogant team makes you feel better, Eric, but you're acting like your team is going to the Super Bowl when they're on the bubble in terms of getting a wild card.

The speed in which you wish to claim another team's victory as your own team is what's funny, Eric.

...and I've been a Steeler fan since age 4 and you question my loyalties. Fuck off. Dust off your jersey and head to the bar! Hurry before they go to the back of the pack in the division again soon.

Seriously. Nothing worse than suffering Bungles fans with a glimmer of hope in a season. Win a Super Bowl and then come talk to me.

You figure out that reading comprehension thing? Or are we going to have to argue this 11 year/4 year thing yet AGAIN.

We could lose every game for a dozen seasons and still be ahead of the Bungles as a program. Please. Do something before you get all giddy with me.

Like I said, I'll root for our divisional rivals in the post season once we are out of it (IF we are out of it). Do you do the same or are you just a bitter hater?

I admittedly missed the Batch news. I was very busy conversing with folks at Ohio's most active political blog.

You know what else happened the last time the Bengals swept the Steelers, Eric? The Steelers had a losing season and finished third in the then AFC Central Division.

Oh, and the Bengals were 3-13 that year. We're so much better this year that sweeping the Steelers is not likely our only bright spot. Like I said, we're one win away from sweeping the entire Division.

Right. I've never written about the Bengals before this year:
http://modern-esquire.blogspot.com/2006/09/who-...

I care more about the fact that we've been leading the division most of the season and look to be playing in the playoffs again than I do about sweeping the Steelers. I care more about sweeping the Ravens, frankly.

Um, hey, Steeler SuperFan Eric, Charlie Batch is unlikely to play due to yesterday's wrist injury likely requiring surgery:
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehudd...

Your likely starting QB against the Ravens is Dennis Dixon. He's thrown one pass in his entire NFL career.... it was a completion for THREE YARDS.

Um, Modern. That's because I've not posted any sports related items (until Where Dey) but had to endure those invited onto a blog about politics that I started mocking me incessantly with posts about the Bungles.

History lesson Modern. Eric is from Kentucky. His step-father is from Pittsburgh. I'm a Steeler fan since age 4. I'm a Kentucky fan all my life. Deal with it. I live in Ohio now and have since 1993. I've actually begun to like it. I also don't like the Boston Celtics. Stop playing the telephone game with Tim because you are missing information at some point along the line. I like Rajon Rondo (Kentucky) and follow him some in the NBA. I hate the NBA overall. I'm a college hoops fan. You will learn more about this as we near February.

You apparently have reading comprehension issues and they are SEVERE. I've not argued it has been 11 years since the Bungles have been in post season play. I remember the last time they were. Very well in fact. ;-)

What I HAVE argued is it's been 11 years since the Bungles have swept the Steelers and you are yet to find me a sports writer to link to who refutes this. Please pay attention.

Charlie Batch, and he's beaten Ray Ray before. LOL.

Still no answer to you rooting the Steelers on if they last longer this year? I'm on record rooting for the divisional team throughout. You? You gonna raise the Terrible Towel once we right the ship?

Dust that jersey off yet? It's looking about time to join your bandwagon Who Dey fans in their periodic waking from their incognito slumber.
