Not sure, but this may be the first blogger produced video shot at a Sarah Palin book-signing campout.? We hit Camp Palin outside the Borders in Dublin, Ohio, outside Columbus.

It’s been a long night.? We heard that people had begun camping out at the Dublin (Columbus area) Borders as early as 7pm, for a book signing at 6pm the next day (today).? So [...]

Stupak is the Pitts.

On November 20, 2009 By

A guest post from Kelley Bell, courtesy of The Huffington Post:

A firestorm is coming. Can you feel it? The women of this country are fuming, like steam in a pressure cooker the timer is about to go off, and these women are going to explode.

After a long and difficult debate on health care, The Stupak/Pitts Amendment passed The House 240 to 194 with 64 Democrats breaking from the party platform to add an amendment to the bill further restricting legal abortion. The move was underhanded, disgusting and unforgivable to the women in the pro-choice movement because [...]

Let me start by giving Cafe Press credit for actually responding to my email complaints. Also for temporarily suspending the sale of the wingnut merchandise that promotes the death of President Barack Obama.

But based on the email response (see below) that I received from Cafe Press, it sounds like they are not going to permanently block the sale of these inappropriate designs. And they will soon, if not already, be back on sale at Cafe Press.

Here’s a copy of the email I received from the Cafe press folks. They make a good case, but not good enough [...]

China Cheats and We Lose Jobs

On November 19, 2009 By

I had to skip my second night with the Palin book to attend (and work at) a town hall meeting in Baltimore about U.S. manufacturing policy, or rather, the need for a U.S. manufacturing policy.

I’ve been working on this issue for a while but I finally understood more about why U.S. manufacturing has declined so significantly. I always understood that China was part of the problem, but I just assumed it was because they were winning in the market place: they could make and sell products more cheaply than we could. I thought this was only because they paid [...]

Yes, that is a serious headline. Wingnuts apparently believe by an overwhelming margin that Obama actually stole the election.

Among Republicans, however, only 27% say Obama actually won the race, with 52% — an outright majority — saying that ACORN stole it, and 21% are undecided. Among McCain voters, the breakdown is 31%-49%-20%. By comparison, independents weigh in at 72%-18%-10%, and Democrats are 86%-9%-4%.

And, unlike the controversy over the 2000 election, there’s actually no evidence whatsoever to support this belief.

Astonishingly, this position is actually more popular on the right than the Birther conspiracy, despite the fact that [...]

Modern has been all over this state budget issue. Today it escalated to a call for the Governor to exercise his executive powers to force a special session by proclamation in order to keep Republican Senators from bailing on the state to go home for the holidays to their families while leaving the rest of the state in limbo over the budget shortfall. (see here and here)

I invite those who think the Governor should exercise such power to comment below. I would like to especially extend a hand to those on the right who have criticized Governor [...]

From the Columbus Dispatch (Strickland: Don’t leave town):

?I think it would be unseemly for the legislature to leave this town with this matter unresolved,? he said. ?I understand next week is a holiday period of time. I certainly think this is important enough that all of us should be willing to work as long as we need to work to get it done.”

?I think it?s more important than personal travel, I think it?s more important than any individual member of the governor?s staff, the governor or the legislature,” Strickland said. “There?s no reason why this cannot [...]

The Columbus Dispatch reports what Harris’ Plan B really was:

Unable to find enough votes, Senate Republicans are going home until December without plugging the $851 million state-budget shortfall.

“I assure you, we have a plan, and it’s a good plan. But it takes bipartisan support.”

In other words, there never was a “Plan B” that Harris thought he could get passed with little or no Democratic support.  Harris was clearly trying to intimidate the Senate Democrats by inferring that if the Democrats didn’t swallow the conservative ideological sweetners to the bill (which included, among other things, [...]
