The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. Sounds official, right? Most whack front groups do. Mother Jones does a great job of exposing these fools for what they are:

Yet despite the lab coats and the official-sounding name, the docs of the AAPS are hardly part of mainstream medical society. Think Glenn Beck with an MD. The group (which did not return calls for comment for this story) has been around since 1943. Some of its former leaders were John Birchers, and its political philosophy comes straight out of Ayn Rand. Its general counsel is Andrew Schlafly, son of [...]

The PalinPalooza continues, indeed accelerates.? For a woman who incessantly mocked the “celebrity” of Barack Obama, Sarah Palin is making Barack look like an amateur.? The Republican Party, and all their organs of manipulation, play right along.

They’re all in.? Good.? Because nothing is more certain in today’s media environment than the cycle of build up, destroy.? The higher they rise, the harder they fall. The very same people today blowing smoke up Palin’s spandex clad sphincter will tomorrow shove a red hot poker up it.? That’s bankable.

But with Palin, the inevitable crash will be far worse than it [...]

Consider this my blood curdling scream or whatever. Tom Blumer, our favorite wingnut lunatic faux financial blogger hailing from the southwest corner of the state, has what he thinks is a compelling post up that claims he’s settled once and for all the issue of whether Fox News is fair and balanced or not. He claims they are and he can prove it. Surprise!

Aside: I once called Tom a motherfucker to make a rhetorical point. One he has not been able to defend as yet. He took it personally having thought I was actually calling him [...]

Complete text of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act by the Senate is now available online. You can download the PDF here.

Video of the presser:

$127 billion reduction in deficit. 94% coverage. Includes an opt-out public option compromise. I’m still unsure of this one. Seems like you could opt yourself right out of any cost savings by diluting the strength of the pool of insured.

One of the most contentions provisions of late has been the Stupak-Pitts Amendment in the house. A pretty good compromise is being offered on this one:

The Senate version [...]

Fresh from a recent fiasco that forced Sean Hannity to formally apologize to Jon Stewart on the air for using old footage of teabagger rallies to prop up numbers of lesser attended teabagger events, Fox News follows up by…

…doing it again!

Um…can we dispense with the “fair and balanced” claptrap finally?

I was just reading a story in the Cleveland Leader about some religious nutjobs who are selling t-shirts and bumper stickers on cafe press asking people to pray for President Barack Obama to die.

Psalm 109:8 says “May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership.”

Jesus would be proud.

I just emailed cafe press at cup@cafepress.com and asked them to remove this offensive material from their site. Feel free to do the same.

Update: This issue was discussed on Rachel Maddow’s show:

Leave Sarah Palin ALONE!

On November 18, 2009 By

I imagine lots of crackpots and weirdos call in to CNN and leave messages for Rick Sanchez. Most of the them never make it on the air. But I guess this one was just too good to pass up.

It’s only a few seconds long. Worth the click…

Congratulations conservative nutjobs. You were so successful last year at making asses of yourself in public that the nice people over at Oxford are adding you to the dictionary.

Included along with lots of facebook and twitter-related terms are these wingnutty wonders:

birther – a conspiracy theorist who challenges President Obama’s US birth certificate

death panel – a theoretical body that determines which patients deserve to live, when care is rationed

teabagger – a person who protests President Obama’s tax policies and stimulus package, often through local demonstrations known as “Tea Party” protests (in allusion to the Boston Tea [...]

The Cleveland Plain Dealer  is strongly suggesting that the Ohio Democratic Senate Caucus has rejected the Ohio Senate GOP’s ideological plan.

Sen. Dale Miller, a Cleveland Democrat on sits on the Senate’s Finance Committee, said he can’t support the Republican offer.

“This is not a real fix,” he said. “This package is not going to solve the problem.” For example, Miller said he has problems with tapping the casino license fees given that the money is earmarked for job training programs under the details of the casino state ballot issue passed by Ohio voters earlier this [...]

More from the Columbus Dispatch on the Senate GOP’s raid of the Ohio Housing Trust Fund:

The proposed raid of $30 million from the Housing Trust Fund is already drawing criticism from House Democrats who say the move is unwise as Ohio faces the worst foreclosure crisis in state history.

The fund helps pay for homeless shelters, housing programs, housing projects and home repairs for seniors. The fund, generated from fees on the sale of houses, is expected to have about $35 million per year, which is already down from $53 million.

?This would be devastating,? said Bill [...]
