Thanks. I grabbed that one -- I'm posting a series of different performances over the next few days -- and wanted to make sure I hadn't missed an important video.

For a 47-year-old band performing a 39-year-old song, they weren't bad, but this isn't the way I want to remember The Who.

Disagree, man. They were only on for 12 minutes, a shorter time than most any of their major songs. They may not smash their instruments anymore, but still the best LIVE band ever – 47 years after they started. Ask anyone at their last Columbus appearance just a few years ago. Rock personified.

sorry. i didn't know entwistle is dead. i just googled him and found out. the last i heard he had quit the who and claimed to have bagged like a gazillion women, but that was probably 20 years ago. time flies. no idea he died.

I was a bit mistaken. The performance is from the film "The Kids Are Alright" according to the note, which was released in 1979. It's been many years since I saw the movie. Not sure when it was recorded.

At about 7:50 there's a great slow-mo of Pete sliding on his knees at the guitar reintro after the drum/synth "duet". The kids thought that was tre' cool.

A friend of mine in the radio biz was with Keith Moon the night before he died. I always chuckle to myself when I see that lovable bozo beating the skins. One of a kind...

Yeah, I really wish I hadn't seen that halftime show.

As it is, I basically forced my kids to watch the 1979 performance of The Who playing "Won't Get Fooled Again" to prove how good they were. They really dug Townsends antics, especially when he trashes his Les Paul at the end.

I also explained how timeless this song is in light of the endless parade of idiots and fools that populate our political class, no matter what message of change and revolution they try to sell.
