We’ve been saying here at Plunderbund all along that people wanted Health Care Reform and even wanted reform more liberal than what the Senate stuck us with. And now that the Democrats finally grew the sack to do what their constituents wanted, we have additional confirmation that this is a popular bill.
By 49%-40% those surveyed say it was “a good thing” rather than a bad one that Congress passed the bill. Half describe their reaction in positive terms, as “enthusiastic” or “pleased,” while about four in 10 describe it in negative ways, as “disappointed” or “angry.”
The largest single group, 48%, calls the bill “a good first step” that should be followed by more action on health care. An additional 4% also have a favorable view, saying the bill makes the most important changes needed in the nation’s health care system.
So, GOP – go right ahead and pander to your base with ridiculous talk of “repealing” this landmark legislation. That’s a political loser. Teabaggers will eat it up, but the vast middle? Not interested in buying what you are selling. You guys keep headed that way, and I will gladly help you get your message to the American people.
You’ve so wedded yourself to both your crazy base and your scorched earth methods, that you are completely unable to step back from the abyss. I’ll be glad to give you a nudge.
Meanwhile, the American people are finally getting the progressive policies they have pretty much always favored.
