According to Real Clear Politics, the Ohio Democratic Party is going to file a complaint with the FEC alleging that American Crossroads, Karl Rove’s organization which is presently running pro-Rob Portman’s ads right now violated FEC regulations regarding illegal coordination with campaigns in making that ad.
The 527 committee’s ad showcases three photographs that originated from Portman’s campaign Web site and jobs plan document, and FEC rules state that using such photos constitutes an in-kind contribution that exceeds the legal limits.

Today, I had the chance to watch the new ABC This Week with Christiane Amanpour – I’ve been looking forward to the show with Christiane as host for a lot of reasons, one of which being her global perspective, which, by virtue of her background, is necessarily less America-centric. Full Story... →Governor Ted Strickland and OSU President Gordon Gee were on hand for the official dedication of the currently largest solar farm in Ohio located in Wyandot. The solar panels were all manufactured in Ohio.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the alternative energy mandate that passed as part of Governor Strickland’s energy regulation plan will require “at least 300 megawatts of solar power generation by 2025.”
Spokeswoman Terri Flora said AEP plans to add about 10 megawatts of solar power annually from 2011 through 2024. Those additions can come from big farms similar to Wyandot or from multiple [...]

The New Markets Tax Credit is a critical part of our plan to create Ohio jobs in communities that have traditionally been in need of business investments,” Strickland said. “When we make it easier to make business investments in Ohio, businesses find it easier to create jobs for hard-working Ohioans.”

Full Story... →Today’s July jobs report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services notes a weakening labor market just as we’re seeing nationally, but one that is still creating private sector jobs—particularly in manufacturing.
Ohio’s unemployment rate was 10.3 percent in July, down slightly from 10.5 percent in June, according to data released this morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Ohio’s nonfarm wage and salary employment increased 1,800 over the month, from the revised 5,045,000 in June to 5,046,800 in July.

“It was never his major proposal,” Mr. Batchelder said. “It was something he had discussed at one point, and very frankly I think that it’s very clear that with the economy where it is now, that kind of a change cannot be made.”
