Here’s Tom Ganley earlier today in Roll Call (“Ganley won’t say whether he thinks Obama is Muslim):
“I don’t have a position on whether he’s a Muslim,” Ganley said Thursday in a telephone interview with Roll Call.
Here’s Tom Ganley just a few hours later in the Plain Dealer:
"For the record, he doesn’t believe the president is Muslim." [says Ganley’s campaign spokeswoman.]
The Ganley campaign claims that Ganley made the statement to Roll Call to indicate the irrelevancy he believes the question has.
Except, of course, that’s not what he said. He [...]
Full Story... →Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman David Betras wrote a letter to the editor in today’s Boardman News in response to attacks by the Chairman of the Columbiana County Republican Party (because the Mahoning County Republican Party apparently doesn’t exist.)
Apparently, the editor of the paper felt that Betras was ignoring an “elephant in the room” so he decided to add this “special” comment at the end of Betras’ letter:
Yes, what kind of message does it send to have the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee come into our community, with children present, and speak [...]
Full Story... →A new Pew poll was released yesterday showing more Americans now think President Obama is a Muslim. Among conservative Republicans that number is now 34%.
And here’s a picture that was released by the White House of President Obama ordering a sandwich for lunch in Seattle yesterday.
In case you haven’t been paying attention, we are currently in the middle of Ramadan – the holiest month in the Islamic calendar – and a month in which Muslims are supposed to fast from dawn to sunset. Fasting during Ramadan is actually one of the Five Pillars of [...]
Full Story... →Seriously, Congressman, you need to be 50 feet away from the people you’re speaking to? It’s almost like your campaign is trying to make a crowd look bigger by keeping them two rows deep in an unnecessary large semicircle…
Was it a Seniors Red Rover Championship Tournament going on?
Okay… your turn…
Full Story... →Two days ago, I wrote about video that OhioCapitolBlog captured of Congressman Kasich promising undiscloseable bonuses he plans on offering to the corporate executives who sit on the board of his JobsOhio plan who will, in part, be asked to lobby the Administration on regulatory and legislative matters:
Today, the Ohio House Democratic Caucus issued this press release where two Democratic lawmakers criticized Kasich’s non-transparent plan to privatize Ohio’s economic development:
“The middle class in Ohio has been railroaded by Wall Street fat cats who took bailouts and raked in bonuses while the rest [...]
Full Story... →Yes, this is actually true – some national Tea Party groups have officially come out in opposition to Net Neutrality. First, a primer for those of you who may have forgotten (we’ve written about this before):
A coalition that included 35 Tea Party groups sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Wednesday urging the agency not to boost its authority over broadband providers through a controversial process known as reclassification.
The process could give federal regulators the power to impose net neutrality rules, which would prevent Internet access providers from favoring some content and applications over [...]

John Kasich’s plan means Ohio would be copying off of… MICHIGAN?!? Florida privatized economic development efforts. It didn’t turn out so well.
Earlier this week, John Kasich announced his JobOhio plan. Expected supporters like Matt Naugle and Scott Pullins went from incredible optimism to downright ridiculing it within hours of introductions.
Today, the editorial board of the Akron Beacon Journal offers the first editorial in Ohio on it. Let’s just say they’re skeptical:
The Kasich plan calls for a ”fast, flexible and responsive” operation. Akron knows what he means. In recent [...]

President Obama had a big day today. He started it with a town hall backyard event in Columbus suburb, a fundraiser for Ted Strickland and the rest of the Ohio Democratic ticket, a flight to Miami to repeat the process there, and ending Operation Iraqi Freedom.
One of us will have more on the President’s visit later, I’m sure. It’s just hard to take it all in. By all accounts, it was a very successful visit by the President and for the Ohio Democratic statewide ticket.
O-H! I-O!

On May 1, 2003, President Bush, dressed in a flightsuit after dramatically landing a combat aircraft on a carrier held off the coast of California for the President’s “Top Gun” fantasy press event, declares that “major combat operations” in Iraq were over.
2,666 days later, on August 18, 2010, weeks ahead of schedule, President Barack Obama actually ends U.S. combat operations in Iraq as the last of the combat troops and equipment complete their withdrawal [...]
Full Story... →The Dayton Daily News reports that Ted Strickland has gone after John Kasich over accepting $50k a year from OSU to give roughly a dozen appearances a year for seven years—appearance John Glenn and Rob Portman have done for OSU for free.
I apparently missed this in the initial reporting, but not only did OSU pay Kasich, but they also paid a $20k a year salary for Kasich to have an aide. That aide went to Kasich’s long-time Chief-0f-Staff Don Thibaut.
“It says to me that John Kasich thinks he is a very special person, that the rules [...]
Full Story... →News Corp., the parent company of Rupert Murdoch’s “liberal” media empire that includes the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, and Fox News was recently revealed to have donated $1 million to the Republican Governors Association. The first time a media company has been seen actually lending financial support to a political party on campaigns it regularly “covers.” I have to say “covers” in quotation marks because the coverage of the Ohio Governor’s race has been unusually one-sided.
The RGA has spent a reported $2 million on Kasich’s campaign. Rupert Murdoch and his wife have donated $20,000 [...]
