Back during the 2008 campaign for President, Barack Obama was “caught” on tape talking to Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher aka “Joe the Plumber”. The interaction between Mr. “the Plumber” and then-Senator Obama thrust Wurzelbacher (now candidate for Congress in Ohio) into the public spotlight and gave the McCain campaign, and every Republican, a soundbite they continue to use until this day.

Nearly every right wing blogger, Fox News anchor or crazed right wing Tea Partier will tell you that President Barack Obama is a Socialist. And while they have a hard time proving it with any of his actual actions or policy decisions, they will always point you to this one unscripted remark by Barack Obama when he told Wurzelbacher: “I think when you spread the wealth around it’s good for everybody”

Barack Obama is a Socialist. Therefore anyone who supports Obama is a Socialist. And the proof comes from his own words. End of story.

If you are an Ohioan who believes President Obama is a Socialist based on this logic, then I have some news for you: another Socialist leader is likely operating even closer to home.

According to today’s Dispatch, Governor Kasich recently described the motivation behind his plan to increase taxes and fees on big oil companies in order to give the money back to Ohioans:

“What we’re saying is, every Ohioan ought to benefit from this prosperity (from shale drilling), this wealth”

If you are a big believer in the magic and power of free markets and afraid of big government “Socialists” trying to spread the wealth around, Kasich’s words should be setting off all kinds of warning bells.

Tea Party people (and Oil and Gas company execs) beware: the biggest danger to your liberty and freedom might be the guy you elected Governor of Ohio.

Not the same, Joseph.  Kasich is a solid Republican while Obama is a Kenyan-Marxist-Muslim.  Oh, did I mention he is black?

It’s funny how to republicans everyone else is a socialist or anti-captialism until THEY (republicans) want a government subsidy or outright giveaway. The average Ohioan will get miniscule scraps out of tfracking. Kasich, as usual, is overstating the few benefits of this hoping we’re all too stupid to know better. Luckily other states have a long history of this and have horror stories to tell about it. Hopefully much of it will be stopped before irreversible damage is done.

I’m gonna venture that DubIrish was being sarcastic. But it is hard to tell. Read it like he’s smirking, channeling the wackos, and it’s funny. Most of the crazies (except Rush) don’t say that stuff out loud. They seethe.

truthinohio  Ah, you couldn’t be more wrong.  I’ll cut you some slack since I didn’t use better sarcasm tools, but you need to dial it down a bit.  I have a history on these boards and it clearly shows where I stand, which is with Obama, the Democratic Party, and Plunderbund.
