“Out of the 16 seats that we must contest in Ohio, seven on the Democratic side have women running for Congress. Seven out of sixteen. That’s almost half. Now guess how many the Republicans have. Zero. Please help all of our seven sisters win our respective races. We can do it, we can do it!”

~ Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur speaking at the 2012 Ohio Democratic Party State Convention

Click on the links to the websites for our seven sisters. Follow the links to their social media. Like them on FB and write supportive statements on their posts. Follow them on Twitter and retweet them. Give them small donations because those small donations add up and show the media that the candidates have broad support. They also keep the spirits up for these courageous women as they fight to represent our interests in Congress. Find out if one of them is in your district, or is in a race you think is especially crucial and volunteer. Tell other people you know about the Seven Sisters of Ohio.

We are the deciding factor in this election. We determine the direction of our nation. This is our moment to pull the legislature back into the modern era and leave the extremist Republican War on Women in the dust. We can do it!

Here are three videos from three of our seven sisters. They all spoke at the 2012 Ohio Democratic State Convention last weekend.

Angela is an engineer, and the only female pastor running for U.S. Congress in Ohio. She has an incredible level of intelligence, insight and energy. Watch this video. Everyone who meets or hears Angela feels a connection to her. She is definitely on her way to the U.S. Congress…

If I could use only one word to describe Joyce Healy-Abrams that word would be wise. Watch this video and you’ll see why…

On Tuesday of this week, small businesswoman Joyce Healy-Abrams released her plan to create jobs.

Healy-Abrams said her plan – first made public Tuesday morning in an email to her supporters – is an effort to get beyond bumper sticker slogans and offer real solutions to grow the economy.
“Too many politicians are offering ‘plans’ that are little than repackaged talking points. The goal here is to offer more depth,” Healy-Abrams said. “The politics-as-usual approach in Washington isn’t working. We need a better way.”
Healy-Abrams said her focus will be on these priorities:
  • Expand access to capital for small businesses and simplify the government paperwork.
  • Offer tax incentives to innovative companies.
  • End the tax deduction for companies that ship jobs overseas and start rewarding companies that bring jobs home.
  • Offer tax credits to companies that buy American-made products and supplies.
  • Restore fiscal responsibility by auditing the tax code.
“No one plan can fix every problem. Our economy has many challenges,” Healy-Abrams said. “But this plan will help create a climate where entrepreneurs with great new ideas have every chance to succeed.”
“America has always been a nation of inventors and entrepreneurs.  We must keep that spirit alive,” she said.
In developing the plan, Healy-Abrams drew from her own experience as a small businesswoman. Expanding access to capital, reducing government paperwork and rewarding innovation will unleash entrepreneurial energy, she said. Also, creating new incentives to buy American and bring jobs back to the United States will help rebuild strength in the manufacturing sector, she said.

The full plan is available at www.JoyceforJobs.com

Healy-Abrams is running for Congress in the 7th District, which includes all or parts of Ashland, Coshocton, Huron, Holmes, Knox, Lorain, Medina, Richland, Stark, and Tuscarawas counties.

Joyce Beatty is the Democratic Congressional candidate in my very own district, Ohio’s 3rd Congressional district. When she spoke I was happy to hear about her passionate commitment to protecting Medicare and Social Security. I also know that she’s a strong advocate for the Affordable Care Act…
