Confused about who to blame for the shutdown of the federal government?

But read the cesspool of ignorance and racism that is The Dispatch comment section and you will see that those with digital access think otherwise. Crazy.
“Congress Plunges Nation Into Chaos” one headline on HuffPo reads. No, let’s be very, very, clear on
this issue. It was the congressional GOP that shut down the government,
not Congress as a body. It was a group of insurrectionists in Congress
bent on destroying the government who shut it down. It was not Congress
as a body. It was a group of traitors posing as congressional
Republicans who shut down the government, not Congress as a whole.
The republicans have yet to accept their defeat in the last two presidential elections, and their obstructionism and brinksmanship of the last six years (along with their veiled racial hostility) is symptomatic of the sore loser complex that has resulted in this latest manufactured crisis. Ironically, their uber hero, Ronald Reagan, couldn’t get elected in the present day republican party because he would have seen this, and all the other over-the-top strategies of the last six years, as bad for everyone.
