Cry, little Santorum, Cry!

Boo hoo hoo!? My homophobic asshole father just got fired!

A Song for Sarah Santorum

On November 15, 2007 By

I can’t believe I missed this story on Politico.com last month! I know I’m a little late with it- but I just can’t pass it up…

I remember with great fondness watching Senator Rick Santorum give his concession speech last November.

I also remember not feeling the least bit sorry for his daughter as she stood on stage next to her father crying.

I was so happy that this corrupt, gay-hating asshat lost that I actually laughed at his little crying daughter and made fun of the fact that she and her doll were dressed the same.

If the Republican Primary season this election cycle has taught us anything it’s that we’ve seen the death of intelligence and a sense of shame in modern American politics. As I write this I can hear the chorus of all who say it died long ago. Wrong. It was in critical condition and on life support. Being something of a cockeyed optimist, I was hoping for a slow but steady recovery. Those dreams were dashed beyond repair during the last two Republican debates.

I once thought there couldn’t be a GOP primary line-up worse than the one fielded in 2012. […]

In a long and not exactly flattering article that appeared in The New York Times Magazine recently, Robert Draper, a national reporter who regularly contributes to the publication, followed Ohio Governor John Kasich in New Hampshire in September. What he witnessed was a replay of Gov. Kasich’s reelection campaign in Ohio, only in a different state.

The Big Question

Mr. Draper was in hot pursuit of Gov. Kasich for a few days in the small state where Kasich hopes to finish in the top three so he can gain traction in the next two states to vote, South Carolina and Nevada, where his chances right […]

Like a prize fighter getting psyched before entering the ring, Donald J. Trump was tweeting about a new poll showing he tops his challengers in Iowa before joining the other eight Republicans Tuesday night on stage at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas for the last debate of the year.

“New PPP poll just released in Iowa- up 6 points from last poll. Leading w/ 28%! Don’t worry – media won’t report it!” Trump tweeted.

Kasich A Loser

Calling the winners and losers from the 5th Republican presidential debate, Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post saw Jeb Bush, […]

The question asked Tuesday by many Washington watchers who continue to be entertained as one Republican after another enters the race for the White House was, “Why not John Kasich?”

Brad Friedman, the host of a nationally syndicated radio talk show on all things political, including a strong focus on green energy news, pondered why Kasich would run, and whether he offers anything different than the other 15 candidates who have left the shadows to come into the light of presidential politics?

Simple answer: Because Kasich can. The GOP field is fluid, and the money for aspiring […]

As we watch the reports of new outbreaks of the political wars ignited by the Republicans’ morals police over abortion and gay marriage, it seems we ought to have a new word for democracy.  I would call it deMOCKracy.  It would broadly describe a bizarre system in which people who cry out the loudest to guard their own freedoms do not hesitate to engage in stripping others of theirs.

(These folks recall  the words of a writer who once observed that the early Puritans lived in constant fear that somebody somewhere was happy.)

Demockracy is a perfect cover for the pretenses of […]

In the ongoing battle between party chairman Kevin DeWine and Governor Kasich, it’s becoming increasingly clear which team is the more sensitive of the two.

On Thursday I wrote about Mike DeWine’s defection from Mitt Romney supporter to Rick Santorum groupie. I proposed a couple of reasons why DeWine, often criticized by fellow Republicans for being too moderate on social issues, might switch his support to the most radical social conservative in the race.

But it turns out the decision may have had more to do with hurt feelings than with politics. According to the New […]

Ohio politics is generally the topic here at Plunderbund (when we aren’t talking about Ohio sports, of course). But a few topics and politicians anger me so much that I can’t help but write about them.

David Vitter is one of those politicians. Mainly because his political views and political actions so often touch on the topics that anger me so much.

David Vitter rails against same-sex marriage for being ‘anti-family’ but he’s been caught sleeping with prostitutes on multiple occasions.

And despite this horribly obscene and contradictory behavior David Vitter has – for reasons I have no fucking […]
