Want to Know How to Create 20,000 New Jobs in Ohio?

According to the Renewable Energy Policy Project, more than 20,000 new manufacturing jobs can be created in Ohio in the coming years with investment in and from the “green” economy. Four town hall meetings – on June 23 in Cincinnati, June 24 in Findlay, June 25 in Canton and June 26 in Cleveland – will […]

The Energy Bill Finally Passes!

I just heard that the House FINALLY passed the revised energy bill 91-1. Don’t hold me to that number- but it definitely did pass.
It looks like Tom Patton (R-18) from Strongsville is the only one who voted no.
UPDATE:
The actual vote was 93-1.
UPDATE:
My power went out about 15 minutes after this vote finished and […]

Bounties to influence economic growth and innovation

Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) has introduced a bill called the Greenhouse Gas Emission Atmospheric Removal (or GEAR) Act. GEAR is designed to provide for bounties to be awarded to whomever accomplishes a specific task first - in this case scrubbing greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere to counteract pollution from human activity.

ABC sez “Bill Clinton says we need to slow economy”; Clinton actually says the exact opposite

When is this “liberal media” meme going to die? Would a true “liberal media”, that is allegedly trying to cram a liberal POV down the throats of their consumers ever do something like this?
In a long, and interesting speech, he characterized what the U.S. and other industrialized nations need to do to combat global […]

Ohio polluters

Synopsis: American business Hunt Oil Company, headed by a man who is a close Bush ally and member of the Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. He is presumably well-informed on the situation in Iraq. And […]

1.21 giga… juelles?

The excellent (and must-read) ClimateProgress has a terrific debunking of the “Hummer has a lower lifecycle cost than a Prius” BS. My favorite part:
Their website says the report does not include issues of gigajuelles [sic!], kW hours or other unfriendly (to consumers) terms. Perhaps, in time, we will release our data in such technical […]

Ohio manufacturers push to end electric deregulation

Ohio’s major manufacturers (and the largest power consumers in the state) are pushing back against deregulation of the electricity market.
Members of the Ohio Coalition for Affordable Power said Wednesday they will back legislation that would halt the move to market-based electric rates before deregulation kicks in fully in January 2009.
Otherwise, coalition members fear their […]

You Wanna Know Treason? I Got TREASON!

Wingnut bloggers are always looking for something to call treason. Bi-partisan trips to Syria is one that comes to mind. You want treason? I’ll give you treason:
WASHINGTON, June 14 Senate Democrats, facing their first significant battle over a wide-ranging bill intended to reduce oil consumption, found themselves blocked by Republicans on […]
