No rush…

On March 16, 2011 By

Twenty-fours hours later and we’ve yet to see a single Republican publicly embrace Kasich’s “Jobs” budget.  Seriously, this is odd.  Ted Strickland would get some response from the Republican leadership by now.

Go over to the Ohio Republican Party website… nothing.   Nothing on their Twitter account, either. (The Ohio GOP website does show more opposition by its users than support for SB 5, btw.)  Nothing about the budget on its Facebook site.  No press release from ORP Chairman Kevin DeWine.

House Republican caucus?  Same thing.  Nothing.  Speaker Batchelder?  Nada.  Senate Republican caucus?  [...]

Apparently, Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine had the State’s Central Committee pass some sort of resolution condemning State Senator Tim Grendell’s (R-Chesterland) decision to forgo taking the House seat he won this November and instead staying for the remainder of his Senate term.

Here’s a copy of Grendell’s letter to Chairman DeWine protesting that decision:

John Kasich released a new ad attacking Ted Strickland over his ad attacking JobsOhio.

And just who is the person the Kasich campaign is relying of for these statements?  This kid:

Yep, that picture was taken this year.  Meet Mytheos Holt, the ‘10 graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut who now blogs for National Review—hardly an objective, nonpartisan, non-ideological publication.  [UPDATE:Anthony @ Ohio Daily Blog has more information about Holt’s “journalism” bona fides as well.]

Two days ago, I smelled a rat in Holt’s story, and wrote about his claims about the [...]

Yesterday, GONGWER reported Ohio House Minority Leader Batchelder said this in response to questions about John Kasich’s income tax proposal:

“It was never his major proposal,” Mr. Batchelder said.  “It was something he had discussed at one point, and very frankly I think that it’s very clear that with the economy where it is now, that kind of a change cannot be made.”

“When he originally said it he said very carefully that it depends on the economy,” he said.

If I were still a reporter, I would have turned off my digital recorder and politely told the House Minority [...]

The Dayton Daily News has confronted one of Ted Strickland’s “Wall Street” donors who are just as bad and responsible for this economic recession as John Kasich’s Lehman Brothers:

Buried on the 23-pages of contributions that GOP counted was $100 from Patricia Diven of Centerville who listed her occupation as ‘finance director.’

But Diven said she is no Wall Street insider. She said she works three days a week for a small non-profit agency with an annual budget of less than $500,000. She admitted that she did once visit Wall Street in the 1970s.

News that she had [...]

Well, this should end well.

Jim Heath over at ONN just tweeted:

“Ohio Republicans dropping NRA memberships. Encouraging others to join gun owners of America.”

Yes, the Ohio Republicans should drop their membership to the NRA and join yet another gun rights group that positively will not be endorsing John Kasich in the fall after his multiple anti-gun votes.

By all means, Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine, please, please, PLEASE declare war on the NRA during a critical election season.

Tell every sportsman and gun owner in Ohio that if they stand with the NRA for supporting [...]

So, this morning I saw this ad twice during the “Today” show:

Not a bad ad.? And I was impressed that it manages to run twice during a highly watched “broadcast” national morning news show as well which gives it already more market penetration than I saw in the earlier Strickland campaign ad or the RGA’s response.

Of course, any time a union weighs in on a political campaign, there has to be a Republican screaming bloody murder.

This time it’s Ohio Republican Chairman Kevin DeWhine who accuses Governor Strickland of money laundering:

The $448,000 in negative [...]

The Carpetblogger is amazed at the “trend” that a bunch of Republican lawmakers from across Ohio all today issued separate press releases from different regions of Ohio today to discuss the economy.  Keeling wrote four posts about these releases, each one, more amazed at the coincidence that these lawmakers were saying the same thing at the same time.

It’s almost like these lawmakers didn’t actually release these press releases at all, but they were all issued in a coordinated fashion by the some central organization like… the Ohio Republican House Caucus, [...]

I’m supposed to be worried because John Kasich’s 88-county GOTV full throated effort netted him only 100,000 more votes in his primary when compared to the Strickland campaign which ran no GOTV at all?

I’m supposed to still be concerned about a Tea Party movement that the Ohio GOP doesn’t worry about?

The GOP Auditor and Secretary of State primaries were ho-hum, even though the State GOP had to have spent over $1 million influencing those primaries?? Which, of course, is less money than they’ll have for the general election.

John Kasich best response to Ted Strickland’s ad really is [...]

So, remember just a few days ago we were talking about how bank lobbyist Steve Stivers told a 9/12/Tea Party group that he supported repealing the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that calls for the direct election of U.S. Senators?

Well, Stivers is now claiming to the Columbus Dispatch, he apparently is just too incompetent to check the right box, even with a campaign office of seasoned hired Republican campaign operatives helping him in what is supposed to be one of the most important races for the Republicans nationally this year.? This, of course, makes him a [...]

Either that presumably 50 ft. tall “Vote Steve Stivers May 4th” sign was photoshopped into a Tea Party crowd shot by the Ohio Republican Party or I missed the headline in the Columbus Dispatch:

58 Tea Party protesters killed by falling giant Stivers sign.

Christ, guys, don’t photoshop something where the sign looks so large that people’s heads are smaller than the dot on the “i.”? They actually cropped the bottom edge to make it appear like it was behind those folks and tilted the writing to give the impression it was displayed at an angle.?? What did [...]
