Bloomberg is reporting that Elizabeth Warren is hiring outgoing Attorney General Richard Cordray to run the enforcement division of the new federal Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection agency.

The consumer bureau, which was created by the Dodd-Frank regulatory overhaul, has the authority to regulate consumer financial products, and Warren has set credit cards and mortgages as its first priorities. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in honor of that and the passage of House Bills 10 and 19, Attorney General Richard Cordray has teamed up with the Ohio Domestic Violence Network to release “Teen Relationship Violence: A Resource Guide to Safety.”

Suffolk Poll: Feel the GOP Wave in Ohio

Suffolk University out of Boston polled the Ohio Statewide races as well as some other issues. I guess it’s a testament to the important of Ohio to the national political scene that we have so many out-of-state, East Coast universities who poll Ohio fairly regularly like Quinnipiac.

Anyway, the poll of 500 likely voters had some expected, and unexpected results.

DeWine releases second negative ad… this time on ObamaCare?!?

Number of Ohio jobs lost so far due to ObamaCare? Zero.

Chance that a suit challenging the constitutionality of ObamaCare would succeed? Next to zero.

It’s ironic, when Rich Cordray released an ad that opened with a mention of DeWine’s years in Washington (and nothing more) DeWine blasted Cordray for going negative saying it was an indicator that he had nothing to offer the people of Ohio. I guess that only applies when a Democrat does it as DeWine has not one, but now two, actually negative ads running.

When Richard Cordray released his first ad, DeWine attacked Cordray for going “negative” by… mentioning DeWine’s decades in Congress:

“It is telling that Richard Cordray decided to go negative in his first television advertisement,” DeWine said.

DeWine is up with his first television ad… Guess what he did? Yep, attacked Cordray.

But at least Mike DeWine got his first law enforcement endorsement.

Too bad it’s his own daughter.

DeWine’s ad also falsely creates the impression that he’s been endorsed by law enforcement and the Columbus Dispatch. DeWine’s campaign against corruption? Nonexistent. Where was Mike DeWine during Coingate? Jack [...]

Apparently, Mikey no likely Cordray’s ad. I haven’t even SEEN the ad, or DeWine’s criticism of it before I got Cordray’s campaign spokesman’s response to DeWine:

“When it comes to negative ads, Mike DeWine is a pro. Mike DeWine ran commercials showing fake, computer-generated footage of the World Trade Center on fire in his failed 2006 re-election campaign, and has proceeded to attack and distort Attorney General Cordray’s strong record of accomplishments since day one of this election.

“It’s funny that Mike DeWine thinks our commercial is negative when the only reference to the former Senator is that he spent [...]

Happy misleading Statewide candidates August campaign finance reporting day!

Yep, today’s the deadline for the Statewide candidates (except for the U.S. Senate) to report their August fundraising haul. And yet again, they don’t actually have to report their spending, so any cash-on-hand figures you see bandied about is highly misleading and shouldn’t be trusted. That’s why I’m not going to run them in this post.

We’ll update this post as the reports are filed today.

The pimp look doesn’t work for DeWine.

ODP points out that after a career of protecting Wall Street insiders, Mike DeWine now wants to protect them, and not us, as Ohio’s Attorney General.

Frankly, I think DeWine’s comments support Kasich’s secretive executive bonuses for his JobsOhio plan plays right into this video.

Think John Kasich is happy to have unpopular former Senator/current GOP Attorney General candidate Mike DeWine come to his defense? Me, either.

According to the Youngstown Business Journal, Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray weighed in on John Kasich’s JobsOhio plan and said he had serious concerns about its lack of transparency, particularly when it came to Kasich’s assertion that the non-profit, private corporations bonus compensation system would be made exempt from disclosure:

Kasich’s privatization plan also appears to give “taxpayer-funded bonuses” to the CEOs who would sit on the not-for-profit’s board and its employees, which they would not [...]

So far, former U.S. Senator Mike DeWine’s entire campaign for Attorney General is based on a two-prong strategy:

Attack Richard Cordray over not joining in a health care lawsuit that polling shows a large majority of Ohioans oppose despite their misgivings over health care reform. Attack Richard Cordray over delays in the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification’s forensic lab on DNA testing.

This is not what you call a powerful campaign strategy.
