How do you know someone is reaching to make a political argument? They append “gate” to the end of whatever it is they are trying to gin up. In this case, Tom “BizzyBlog” Blumer (aka Tom “Motherfucker” Blumer), tries to jump on the wingnut bandwagon and pushes “Dealergate”.
You know, Obama is only closing REPUBLICAN car dealerships and sparing the Democrat ones. Conspiracy! Outrage! Gather your tea and meet me at the river!
…lunacy. Nate Silver (someone who actually understands and represents statistics in a manner consistent with the science), clears it up quickly:
A meme that is currently picking up traction in the conservative blogosphere is that the list of dealerships to be shuttered as a result of Chrysler’s bankruptcy contains a disproportionate number donors to Republican candidates. There have been furious efforts to prove this contention by looking up campaign contributor lists at the Huffington Post, Open Secrets, and other places.
There is just one problem with this theory. Nobody has bothered to look up data for the control group: the list of dealerships which aren’t being closed. It turns out that all car dealers are, in fact, overwhelmingly more likely to donate to Republicans than to Democrats — not just those who are having their doors closed.
So a group that is made up of Republicans disproportionately turns out to have a disproportionate number of closings that are “Republican”.
Duh.
There’s some center-right, sensible conservative blogging for you right there!
What have I been thinking having been on blogging hiatus? This shit is way too much fun! Holla!

Nearly ruined my laptop reading this over at BizzyBlog:
…Ohio’s center-right, sensible conservative blogosphere…
Can someone point me to the center-right sensible conservatives among the Ohio blogosphere? Need I document the wingnuttery that instead exists? I think not. Pure Orwellian joy. LMAO.

He’s at it again. Though quiet mostly just after the New Yorker cover, Tom Blumer is “bizzy” trying to hint that Obama is a terrorist. Wink wink. Nudge nudge:
Here’s more proof (as if needed) that the ingrates who don’t like how I use Barack Obama’s middle name don’t appreciate the favor I do for him on a mostly-daily basis.
Scott Whitlock at NewsBusters reports that columnist Thomas Friedman of the quickly-contracting New York Times told Good Morning America’s Diane Sawyer the following:
I was in Cairo a few weeks ago. And one of things that was so striking is how impressed Egyptians were, simply with the prospect that after 9/11, Americans might actually elect a man whose middle name was Hussein.
Well, if Egyptian pride is to mean anything, Americans simply must know that the presidential candidate with the middle name Hussein actually HAS the middle name Hussein.
I am pleased to continue providing such a valuable service, and encourage others to assist in this important endeavor. :–>
Since he conveniently ignored the New Yorker story, I thought I’d make it easy on Tom and provide him with a nice site graphic he can use. Feel free to download and display proudly on your site, Tom. You motherfucker you. 160 pixel width, which I think will work perfectly on BizzyBlog.com.

I figure he won’t touch this with his and Nixguy’s ten foot pole combined:
Karl Rove exchanged e-mails about Pat Tillman with Associated Press reporter Ron Fournier, under the subject line “H-E-R-O.” In response to Mr. Fournier’s e-mail, Mr. Rove asked, “How does our country continue to produce men and women like this,” to which Mr. Fournier replied, “The Lord creates men and women like this all over the world. But only the great and free countries allow them to flourish. Keep up the fight.”
AP reporter (now head of the AP Washington bureaue) tells Karl Rove to “keep up the fight”. I wonder if Bizzy will take up this cause and cry foul? It seems to be his thing, you know. Over/Under? Give me “Never” for 100 Alex!
He’s ignoring the New Yorker cover as well. Hmmm. Wonder why?
