What do you call it when someone puts out a falsehood in a campaign, gets corrected on the matter, but then continues to use said falsehood?

I call it fucking lying. Not sure about you.

Steve Austria and his campaign manager Brad Mascho continue to push this story about Sharen Neuhardt “harboring an illegal” right on the front page of their site. Even though the entire thing has been proven absolutely false. Over and over and over. Maybe someone in the press can ask them why they continue to lie to the voters of the 7th.

Most notably is this from Roll Call, which I blogged about on September 25th (one day after the Austria press release was posted – they’ve had plenty of time):

According to court records, Umohoza is currently in the country legally. He was granted a temporary stay on June 24, 2005, by a U.S. District Court judge in southern Ohio. And most recently, a magistrate judge, Sharon Ovington, recommended last month that he be allowed to stay in the country, calling Umohoza “the type of person — hardworking, intelligent, ambitious, law-abiding — who would normally be expected to provide positive contributions to American society.”

I call on Brad Mascho to immediately remove from Steve Austria’s campaign website any lie that either states or intimates that Sharen Neuhardt “harbored an illegal alien”.

Anything less and Brad Mascho and Steve Austria can still be considered fucking liars. I’ll await word.

Oh, and I wish Matt Hurley would correct the record on his blog so we wouldn’t have to know it for being a lying, shilling, oppo outlet for the GOP. Do the right thing Matt Hurley!

Matt Hurley gets punked by Roll Call along with Steve Austria and Brad Mascho. There is no harboring of illegal alien. But thanks for smearing the young man! Great work. Fucktards.

From Roll Call:

According to court records, Umohoza is currently in the country legally. He was granted a temporary stay on June 24, 2005, by a U.S. District Court judge in southern Ohio. Can you find this document and Scribd it for us Matt?

Thanks, buddy!

PS – Think before posting an entire oppo packet sent to you by a campaign. Do some research of your own as well. But mostly, THINK!

I’m not sure how long Brad Mascho (Steve Austria’s campaign manager) has been in politics, but obviously not long enough to know much. The response from the Austria campaign to their dishonorable attack against a genocide refugee is just priceless. Grammatically and substantively. I’ll put the full release in the extended so you can laugh, but this one caught my eye:

It appears she is knowingly willing to ignore the law and court records.

Someone tell me how you unknowingly are willing to do something? English not Brad’s first language? I’m sure Brad would want immigrants (illegal or otherwise) to “speak fucking English”. Why can’t he?

But the best part is when he just outright lies:

Our campaign learned of Sharen Neuhardt’s involvement harboring an illegal immigrant from the Dayton Daily News.

Yes. Because we all know how this works. Reporters work tirelessly digging up all the dirt they can on polticians while campaigns sit back and wait for them to publish something good.

Fuck me, Brad. Are you that stupid? You know full well you guys shopped this story around until you found an outlet willing to publish it so that you could then say you “learned of it”. That’s how the game works and you are either fully aware of that fact or too dumb to run a Congressional campaign.

Wait. The latter may very well be the case.

Stop trying to use a war-torn Rwandan refugee as political fodder. It’s sick and un-American. You ought to be actively seeking ways to help and calling on GPO attorneys to assist in his plight to gain citizenship and not have to return to a country where he has no family and no hope.

This:

Brad Mascho, Campaign Manager for Senator Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek), released the following statement today on the Dayton Daily News revelations in that Democrat Congressional Candidate Sharen Neuhardt has harbored an illegal immigrant on her estate

Is a fucking lie too. Outright lie. Ishema Umuhoza is in the country legally while his court cases are decided. The only person who said he was illegal was YOU quoted in the article:

“Harboring an illegal immigrant with a criminal record is a serious matter,” said Brad Mascho. “We will reserve judgment on this until all the facts have come to light.”

Nice way to reserve judgement dickhead!

Jeff Coryell catches the Republican candidate for OH07 plagiarizing his labor day pandering message. Jeff notes that Austria is really not that into labor or workers:

State Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) has touted his a 97% pro-business voting record and his heavily PAC-funded congressional campaign gets big support from business and nothing from labor. Overall he has a pretty poor voting record as far as labor is concerned, having voted against raising the minimum wage, against fair treatment for workers injured on the job, and for making it harder for state correctional workers to organize.

It’s pandering during a holiday that encompasses many things Steve Austria probably doesn’t support. You know. Labor organizing, minimum wage, sick days, fair treatment of injured workers. It’s an attempt by a patsy Republican who seeks to grab a seat during GOP musical chairs in a gerrymandered district.

Dave Staley at NixGuy.com tries to carry the GOP water (he’s a good waterboy) by claiming 1. That Joe Biden once didn’t cite a source in a speech (not noting, however, that he did many times before in similar speeches) and 2. That this is not technically illegal.

Nice try, Dave. Next time, finish pasting the rest of the Wikipedia entry, my friend:

Though Biden had previously cited Kinnock as the source for the formulation many times before, he made no reference to the original source at the August 23 debate in question.

The facts here are that the GOP candidate not only got lazy, but tried to persuade voters that he gives a damn about workers on their day. Sharen Neuhardt gives a damn and she doesn’t need plagiarized columns to prove it. The Xenia Gazette should issue a correction or update noting the original source of the content.
