So far we’ve explored Tea Party hypocrisy on Special Interests and the Government’s role in the “Free Market”. We turn our attention now to healthcare. Part 3 of this week’s Tea Party Discovery series reveals how Billionaire Koch funded American’s for Prosperity (known Tea Party astroturfer) sponsored a Town Hall meeting in which the GOP through SB5 injects more government control over healthcare. The Tea Party protests of this intrusion upon the people’s civil liberties never materialized…
Full Story... →Yesterday we explored the basics of the stated Tea Party values and I made the first of many “discoveries” that point to the movement being more about opposing Democrats and less about any true ideals. We continue our look at the ways in which the Tea Party’s hypocrisy begins to show with Part 2 of this series by looking at the stated beliefs versus actions relative to Government and the “Free Market”. We also consider whether the size of the “movement” is shrinking due to disillusionment and ponder whether the Tea Party itself is dead.
Full Story... →The Tea Party purports to be a grassroots movement of citizens concerned about The Constitution, limited government, the influence of special interests on our government, and burdensome government regulations. In practice, however, they are nothing more than a mouthpiece for corporate backed FreedomWorks and the Republican Party.
Over the course of this week, this series will provide background and expose the hypocrisy that is the “Tea Party”. The series is from guest poster Greg Mild, a Columbus educator.

Full Story... →The Dayton Daily News reports that the Tea Party Exchange—a program designed to pair Tea Party members with Tea Party-friendly businesses in a discount program to raise money for the Tea Party has folded… after being announced on Friday.
The reasons are multiple.
First, there was a massive boycott from customers who swore they’d never dine or use the services of any business on the exchange:
The number of businesses participating was just more than two dozen after several dropped out when customers complained.
Then, there was mass confusion and disagreements between the organizers and the [...]
Full Story... →So what if you threw an event celebrating the diversity of a movement and no diversity actually showed up?
On these here Interwebs we call that #fail.
The Tea Party bowel movement was desperate to show that it really wasn’t the Angry White Man Party by throwing a “Uni-Tea” rally. Shame on the nasty NAACP for calling them racists. They’d show them. An overflowing level of support from people of many different races, colors, and creeds. Right.
Um…no. I hate to hearken back to days of old and bring up another GOP diversity fail – what [...]

Caught on Tape: Do As I Say, Not As I Do
A Tale of Two Candidates: Rally Rhetoric Versus Actual Facts
Sometimes it’s good to have a video camera around. Because they capture things that you otherwise won’t believe unless you see them yourself.
In this case, someone who taped a 2009 Columbus Tea Party rally filmed a politician working up the crowd by decrying increased spending. Government spending was up 66% in ten years, he complained, while personal incomes were up [...]

?There?s nobody here but me,? said Bill Hicks of Waynesville, who arrived at the park just minutes after the advertised start time of 10 a.m. Hicks said he wasn?t aware of the controversy swirling around Thomas.
?I just came here looking for some common sense? to be put back into politics, he said.
So naturally, he looked for common sense and found Sonny Thomas.? Those common sense Tea Party values!
Full Story... →There’s a PD story today on just how primordially primitive Jon Husted’s Pavlovian teabagging of the Tea Party has been on its face, and how “angry” this all has made our good friends in the Tea Party (whatever the fuck that is).
Chris Littleton, president of the Ohio Liberty Council, said Husted’s overtures to the Tea Party are all propaganda that would make him laugh if he weren?t so angry. He said Husted declined to attend many candidate forums put on by Tea Party groups and similar organizations.
The reporter, Joe Guillen, even goes on to quote head Cleveland [...]
Full Story... →Been on the road, coming back up for air, and the first post I went to this morning to re-engage in the Ohiosphere is this John Husted ad of PANIC, which Eric aptly describes as follows.
Fuck me. It’s like they ‘re playing Tea Party Yahtzee. Just toss some wingnuttery in a cup, shake, and out comes a commercial. “Stop immoral government debt to protect our children’s liberty”? LOLWTF
Actually, this is quite a historic ad.? I’m pretty sure this is the first political ad in the history of American political ads to open with a “Don’t Tread [...]
Full Story... →Finally. They stark freaking out. They’ve been warned for over a year now and they are just now realizing the damage that has been done and will continue to be done to their cause. They’re freaking the hell out:
The organizers of some major Florida tea party groups, for instance, on Thursday morning released an open letter to Congress and President Barack Obama declaring they ?stand in stark opposition to any person using derogatory characterizations, threats of violence, or disparaging terms toward members of Congress or the President.?
FreedomWorks must have some bad internal polling suggesting the jig is [...]
